The New York Islanders acquired center Bobby Hughes from the Carolina Hurricanes for center Rob Hennigar.
What does it give the New York Islanders? Hughes is a little younger, so he offers up slightly more upside. However, he faces an uphill climb to land a roster spot due of the Isles' center depth.
What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes? Hennigar will probably be a key performer in the AHL this season, and perhaps be an injury replacement with Carolina in 2009-10. He essentially replaces the departed Dwight Helminen.
