| FLAMES ACQUIRE STUART, STRALMAN |
|
| | | | Anton Stralman | |
The Calgary Flames acquired winger Colin Stuart, defenseman Anton Stralman and a seventh-round draft pick in 2012 from the Toronto Maple Leafs for center Wayne Primeau and a second-round draft pick in 2011.
What does it give the Calgary Flames? The Flames keep adding to their depth. In Stuart, they acquire a strapping winger with a never-say-die attitude that will battle it out with numerous similar types in the organization. Meanwhile in Stralman, they pick up a young defender with above-average skills that could be classified a late-bloomer. The blue-line stable in Calgary is deep, but Stralman's natural gifts could help him find his way.
What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs? When healthy, Primeau is a serviceable forward with experience that can also line up on the wing, as well as ably patrol the pivot position. An excellent forechecker, his size and good wheels will help the rebuilding Leafs. The second-rounder (2011) in the deal is always a good wild card.
