| WARD HEADS BACK TO 'CANES |
|
| | | | Aaron Ward | |
The Carolina Hurricanes acquired defenseman Aaron Ward from the Boston Bruins for winger Patrick Eaves and a fourth-round draft pick in 2010.
What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes? The Hurricanes are renowned for re-acquiring former players, especially veterans. Ward is both, and he'll be a welcome addition to the 'Canes due to his stay-at-home tendencies. He fills a need.
What does it give the Boston Bruins? This is clearly a salary dump for the Bruins, since they decided to waive Eaves immediately for the purpose of buying him out. This series of moves saves Boston a lot of cap space, and adds a fourth rounder.
