The Phoenix Coyotes acquired winger Radim Vrbata from the Tampa Bay Lightning for winger Todd Fedoruk and defenseman David Hale.
What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes? Sometimes, staying put is the best option. However, Vrbata's return to the Coyotes is proof that you can go home again. Vrbata's career season in 2007-08 was in the Desert, so perhaps he can get back to where he was before he signed with Tampa Bay last summer.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning? The Lightning wanted to rid themselves of Vrbata's $3 million cap hit for the next two seasons, and managed to do just that with this move. Fedoruk is signed for two more seasons, so he should provide some fourth-line toughness. Hale is probably AHL fodder.
