PLAYER NEWS

Jonas Gustavsson, G
2009/11/19:  Jonas Gustavsson made 40 saves in a 6-5 shootout loss to Carolina on Thursday night. He has gone winless his past three games between the pipes for the Maple Leafs. Gustavsson was beaten two times on two attempts in the shootout to take the loss. His record currently stands at 3-4-4.
Alexei Ponikarovsky, LW
2009/11/19:  Alexei Ponikarovsky recorded a goal, and added an assist, in Toronto's 6-5 shootout loss to Carolina on Thursday night. Nikolai Kulemin collected two helpers in the game, while Matt Stajan, Lee Stempniak Mikhail Grabovski and Ian White found the back of the net for Toronto in the loss. White also racked up 11 minutes in penalties in the contest.
Jonas Gustavsson, G
2009/11/19:  Jonas Gustavsson will get the start in goal for Toronto on Thursday. Gustavsson was pulled in his last start on Saturday after allowing three goals on only five shots in his first bad game in the NHL. He will try to redeem himself on Thursday against the Carolina Hurricanes. With Vesa Toskala as his only competition in the Toronto net, Gustavsson should have a stranglehold on the top job very shortly if not already. (Source: TSN.ca)
Jason Blake, LW/RW
2009/11/19:  Jason Blake has just two goals through 19 games this season. Fortunately, he has 10 assists, which means he's on pace for 51 points this season. That would be a big decline from the 63 points he had last year. Keep in mind, however, that Blake started off slow last season with three goals and 11 points through the first 19 games, so maybe he's just a slow starter. Playing with Phil Kessel will help his production.
