Jonathan Toews, C
2009/11/20: The Chicago Blackhawks are trying to work out some salary cap issues before they can make the contract extensions of Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith final. The team needs to work out available tagging space for next season to get these new deals under their cap, so a trade may have to be worked out before the contracts are officially announced. The Hawks are reportedly shopping Brent Sopel and his $2.33 million cap hit for this year and next season, but that could be a difficult sale. Stay tuned. (Source: TSN.ca) |

Dustin Byfuglien, RW/LW
2009/11/20: Dustin Byfuglien scored his seventh goal of the season on Thursday. Byfuglien had been in a bit of a slump before Thursday's goal as he had only two in his previous 12 contests after scoring four times in the Blackhawks first seven games. "Buff had a real good start to the season and I think it's been OK (since then), not at the same pace as we saw last year in the playoffs," coach Joel Quenneville said. "We want him to recapture the quickness and being hard to play against and being a presence at the net." He apparently did so on Thursday. Keep him in your lineup as Byfuglien is also a nice source of penalty minutes for poolies. (Source: Chicago Daily Herald) |

Marian Hossa, RW
2009/11/20: Marian Hossa (off-season shoulder surgery) could return to the Chicago lineup on Wednesday. Everyone on the Blackhawks are looking forward to Hossa's debut. He ha been practicing on the top line with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews but that isn't written in stone so far. "There are going to be a lot of options for a coach to have," coach Joel Quenneville said. "He's going to get a lot of ice time. We're looking forward to him being useful in a lot of ways." We would suggest activating him for next week's games as Hossa is a point per game player. (Source: Chicago Tribune) |
