Winnipeg Sun

Impact
Kevin Cheveldayoff, speaking at the end of the Jets development camp, continued to evade questions about whether or not Kane has asked for a trade. "I'm open to look, to see if there's ways to make improvements on this team," Cheveldayoff said. "Without singling out any individual, everyone starts to wonder what's going on." Asked again directly if Kane has asked to be moved, Cheveldayoff wouldn't confirm or deny it. "I have lots of conversations with lots of players all the time... lots of things are said or not said, and those stay in-house," he said. Kane this summer has fueled the speculation he'd rather play elsewhere. The other day, he was on a Vancouver radio station saying he's still a Jet "for now." During the NHL draft, he favourited a tweet about the Philadelphia Flyers acquiring him.

Winnipeg Free Press

Impact
He's expected to replace Olli Jokinen, who is still available as an unrestricted free agent. Interesting;y, Perreault and Jokinen both recorded 18 goals and 43 points this past season. However, Perreault did it in 69 games and he's much younger. "I can bring a lot of speed," said Perreault after signing a three-year, $9 million deal. "Winnipeg has always been a team about speed. It's a part of my game that I like to use. I'm a smart player, I can produce, I can play a little bit of power play." He could be a good fit in Winnipeg and there's a chance he'll play with Evander Kane.

Maurice backs Pavelec as Jets #1 goalie | 06/28/2014 1:38 PM
News
Jets' coach Paul Maurice firmly believes that Ondrej Pavelec can not only be the Jets' starting goalie going forward but that he will also be an NHL star.
Winnipeg Free Press

Impact
Strong words for the coach about a netminder many believe just doesn't have it in him to lead a team into a successful playoff run. "I have a firm belief he has the ability to be an outstanding No. 1 goaltender. I do. We're going to do everything we can to make that happen. But it's incumbent on every player to make that happen," Maurice said. Pavelec had a miserable 2013-14 season posting a 3.01 GAA and a .901 save percentage while winning a paltry 22 games. For the Jets' sake we hope Maurice is right.
Jets select blueliner Jack Glover in Round 3 | 06/28/2014 1:01 PM
News
The Winnipeg Jets selected Jack Glover with the 69th pick of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Rotoworld.com

Impact
Glover is a rangy 6-foot-3, 190-pound defenseman who is equally strong offensively as he is defensively, with high-end speed and mobility. He's an excellent athlete, but for all the physical tools he has yet to put them all together to dominate a game the way he could. He is an aware player, but his hockey sense and attacking mindset lacks at times. He possesses a heavy shot and can move the puck well. Glover sometimes loses his defensive assignments and is adequate at defending one-on-one rushes. There is an edge to his game, though he's certainly not a banger. There is big upside here, but still a lot to dream on. He'll look to realize this immense potential beginning in the fall at University of Minnesota.
Winnipeg takes Nikolaj Ehlers with 9th pick | 06/27/2014 8:08 PM
News
The Winnipeg Jets have selected Nikolaj Ehlers with the ninth overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Rotoworld.com

Impact
Nikolaj Ehlers is one of the most electrifying players of this draft class. His speed is off the charts, his shot is lethal while his hands are silky smooth. The 5'10" Danish winger dominated the QMJHL in his rookie season, notching 60 goals and 132 points in 79 games for the Halifax Mooseheads, including playoffs. Elhers is dynamic and fearless, able to pull off tricks at top speed and change direction on a dime. Ehlers needs to bulk up his 176-pound frame, but has the raw skills and competitive drive to make the same plays that Patrick Kane is able to do in the NHL. Due in part to his size, he's very unlikely to play in the NHL next season.

Lowry could eventually add size to Jets at C | 06/20/2014 7:40 AM
News
Adam Lowry played center for St. John's and could be a prospect to watch for the Jets.
Winnipeg Free Press

Impact
Winnipeg is in need of some depth down the middle and Lowry could be an option in the next year or two. He generated 17 goals and 33 points in 64 AHL games last season. His 6-foot-5 frame and 201-pound body are intriguing for a team looking for size at the center position, but he may not be ready to step into the NHL next season.

The IceCaps are currently battling the Texas Stars in the Calder Cup Final. "It's been great to get back in the flow of things, to be playing and not be thinking about whether you'll be in our out of the lineup or trying to come back from injuries," Redmond said. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and will presumably be looking for a team that where he'll be given a fair shot to make their NHL opening game roster.

Just 22 years old, there is still a ton of promise in Kane as there's 30-goal upside here; he reached that mark in the 2011-12 season. Don't overlook him in drafts next season.

"We are certainly in that mix of talking, to find out if there's a way to trade, whether it's a big asset, a middle asset, whatever asset. You sit and talk to see if there's a chance that something can fit with something you're looking for." Teams have been locking players up to long-term deals, so there hasn't been much available in the free agent market. That makes clubs more willing to trade to shake up or improve their rosters.
