There is a very good chance that Ryan Miller will be traded this off-season.
Given the fairwell-like send off he recieved from the Sabre faithfull and his reaction to it, it seems the team and Miller would welcome the change. With only one year left on his contract before he becomes an unrestricted free agent, Miller should be a target for a number of contending teams willing to offer up some picks or young players to acquire the veteran netminder. Stay tuned.

Jhonas Enroth made 39 saves in regulation and overtime in Team Sweden's 3-2 shootout win over Canada at the World Hockey Championships on Thursday.
The victory sent Sweden into the semifinal round and it sent Canada home. "Jhonas is one of the most competitive players I've ever seen," Sweden defenseman Erik Gustafsson said. "He showed that in the shootout. Nerves of steel." The Swedes will meet their co-hosts from Finland in one match-up, while the United States will play Switzerland in the other.

Buffalo coach Ron Rolston likes the leadership that Mike Weber displayed during the 2013 season.
"Mike Weber is one of those players that made a real big jump this year in terms of what he meant to our hockey team, how he plays the game, just the potential that he has to continue to grow on this team," Rolston said. "It put a player like Mike in more of a leadership role because of what he did and because of the minutes that he had. He was in the lineup every night blocking shots, sacrificing for his teammates. He's put himself in a situation where he can be one of those guys that are in the room and holding guys accountable." He suited up in 42 of the Sabres' 48 games after starting as a healthy scratch and was voted as the "Unsung Hero" by his teammates. Weber won't provide you with many points, but he can chip in PIMs, blocks and hits.

Brian Flynn appeared in 26 games with the Sabres this past season and he feels like he belongs at the NHL level.
"I have the belief that I can play here," Flynn said. "This is where I belong. I know how hard you have to work to stay up here. It took a long time, a lot of hard work, a lot of hours to get here. This is where I really want to play. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to stay here." He led the team's rookie group with six goals, while finishing with 11 points, 49 shots and 20 blocks. Flynn could develop into a decent two-way forward, but for now he shouldn't be expected to contribute much in fantasy hockey.

Cody Hodgson was effective offensively in his first full season with Buffalo, but he needs some work defensively.
According to BehindTheNet.ca, which is a statistics website dedicated to hockey, the Sabres averaged 2.91 goals per 60 minutes when Hodgson skated in five-on-five situations, but the club's opponents averaged 3.64 goals against him per 60 minutes while skating at even strength. "It's been a productive year, but there's always room for improvement," said Hodgson, who notched 15 goals and 34 points in 48 games.

Tyler Ennis isn't sure if the Buffalo Sabres will play him at center or on the wing next season, but regardless of where he plays he will have to improve his play in the defensive zone.
Buffalo gave up 2.71 goals per 60 minutes when Ennis skated five-on-five and according to Stats.HockeyAnalysis.com (which tracks the percentage of goals scored by a player's team while he is on the ice), the Sabres' opponents scored 66.7 percent of the goals when Ennis was on trying to keep his team in front. He also struggled while lining up at center against some of the league's premier pivots in addition to winning just 41.9 percent of his faceoffs. Ennis was switched back to left wing in the final seven games of the year. Offensively, he did alright for himself with 31 points in 47 games. Playing on the wing may be what's better for him if he can't handle the defensive responsibilities of skating in the middle.

Thomas Vanek is playing very well for Austria at the IIHF World Championships in Sweden.
He leads the Austrians with three goals and 20 shots in five games going into Saturday's contest against Finland. Without any support, we sincerely doubt Vanek alone can lead Austria to a top finish in the tourney.

The Buffalo Sabres have reportedly fired assistant coaches James Patrick and Kevyn Adams.
Sources confirmed the decision this afternoon. Teppo Numminen will remain on board though with head coach Ron Rolston, who will get to choose his own assistants now that he's had the interim tag removed from his name.

The lockout-shortened season didn't go the way Drew Stafford planned.
"I had an expectation for myself to carry over from the previous two years and continue to have production goal-scoring-wise," Stafford said. "It just wasn't there this year." He registered 31 goals in 2010-11 and 20 in 2011-12, but found the back of the net just six times in 46 games in 2013. Stafford finished the year with 18 points and a career worse minus-16 rating. He has two seasons left on a four-year, $16 million deal and it isn't clear if he'll be part of Buffalo's rebuilding plan. Stafford hopes to be back though and he wants to rebound with the Sabres.

Marcus Foligno said he won Buffalo's Rookie of the Year Award by "default" since he was the only rookie to spend the whole season with the Sabres.
"It was tough," Foligno said referring to his underwhelming 18-point season. "That's the way it goes sometimes. You're not always happy. It's not like the effort was not there. It's just some things aren't working. I thought I had some good games, and just consistency is an area I've got to work on." He took a step back in 2013 after recording 13 points in just 14 appearances during the 2011-12 campaign. Foligno wants to be better next year.

Ron Rolston said next year's Buffalo Sabres will be a "playoff-caliber team."
Rolston, who had the interim tag removed from his title Tuesday, is being a tad optimistic for our tastes. For one, there's a pretty good chance Rolston's best forward, Thomas Vanek, and his starting goalie, Ryan Miller, will both be on other teams when training camps open in September. Even if they're not, Buffalo's late-season run isn't enough to convince us this team has the depth of talent to compete over an 82-game schedule. As the saying goes, we'll believe it when we see it.

Ron Rolston has been named the Sabres head coach.
Rolston, who took over for Lindy Ruff on Feb. 20, was 15-11-5 and under the interim tag. The 46-year-old is the 16th head coach in team history. He is known as being a great teacher, which matters to a Sabres team that is one of the youngest teams in the NHL. The big question now is whether he'll bring in his own assistants; the team kept all the longtime coaches when Ruff was let go.

The Sabres want to move up in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Buffalo owns the eighth overall pick in the draft and GM Darcy Regier would like to get closer to the No. 1 overall selection. To do that, he'll probably have to give up a combination of picks, prospects or players. With veterans like Thomas Vanek and Ryan Miller rumored to be available, the Sabres could be an interesting team to watch heading into the draft.

The Buffalo Sabres will announce soon if Ron Rolston will remain the team's head coach on a more long-term basis.
Rolston had a 15-11-5 record as the interim coach after replacing Lindy Ruff. "No decisions yet," Sabres GM Darcy Regier said. "Fairly soon in the case of the head coach in Buffalo, and then Rochester will follow. Those are conversations we're going to have."

Matthew Hackett could end up sharing time with Jhonas Enroth in Buffalo's crease next season if number one goaltender Ryan Miller is traded.
"I haven't been following," Hackett said of Miller's trade situation. "Whatever happens, happens, but he's a guy that I continue to follow to watch his career." Hackett, who was acquired from Minnesota as part of the Jason Pominville deal, is a fan of Miller's and he may get the opportunity to replace him on the Sabres roster. He has been good in the minors since being acquired by Buffalo, but won't get the start in Wednesday's AHL playoff match versus the Toronto Marlies. Hackett has 13 games of NHL experience and he fared well with the Wild during the 2011-12 campaign.

Buffalo Sabres president Ted Black confirmed Monday that Darcy Regier will return for his 17th campaign as club's general manager next year.
The Sabres haven't made the postseason the past two seasons and in seven of their past 11 years. Regier said that no decision has been made regarding a permanent coach. Ron Rolston was the team's interim bench boss after the dismissal of Lindy Ruff in February. "He and I will sit down over the next week, maybe couple of weeks, re-evaluate the season and have discussions about our relationship going forward," Regier said. "I would add that I think he did a very good job under trying circumstances. But again, we'll address that down the road."

Christian Ehrhoff (Germany) and Thomas Vanek (Austria) will participate in the world championship.
They have already committed to take part in the tournament for their respective countries once it kicks off in early May from Sweden and Finland. Ehrhoff led the Sabres' defense corps in points this past campaign with 22 in 47 games, while Vanek led the club in scoring with 41 points in 38 matches.

Tyler Myers knows he has to improve after regressing each year since he won the Calder Trophy in 2009-10.
"It's only natural to hear things like that the way things have gone, especially this year," he said. "I'll be the first to admit I definitely need to turn things around, get back on that path to improving and working on the things that have made me successful. It's just a matter of working that much harder this off-season." Myers notched eight points and a minus-8 rating before his season came to an end when a hairline fracture was discovered in his left leg after he blocked a shot against Montreal on April 11. He wants to put his past conditioning issues behind him and train hard in the summer, so it could make for a more fit Tyler Myers next year.

Ryan Miller wouldn't be shocked if the Buffalo Sabres traded him over the summer.
Miller has spent his entire NHL career with the Sabres, but he's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2014. "Around this stage of a contract, you have to be realistic," Miller said. "In the last year of your deal, if you're not part of the plan, you become an asset that's tradable. So I'm just trying to stay open to coming back and trying to stay excited about playing hockey games in the NHL if it's not going to work out." Miller is one of the Sabres' most appealing trade chips if they decide to shop him. Although his 2013 numbers aren't impressive, he's still a top-tier goaltender that can carry a good team.

The Buffalo Sabres finished the season with the 23rd best record in the NHL.
That positions the Sabres to draft eighth, although they have a 3.6% chance of winning the draft lottery and claiming the top pick. Buffalo also controls Minnesota's first round pick in 2013.

Thomas Vanek thinks that it might be best if Buffalo trades him.
"Let's be honest," Vanek said. "I'm not stupid. I know I have a year left and they can probably deal me for prospects, young guys, whatever else is out there. Yeah, I've thought about it. If it looks like it's a long rebuild, then it probably makes sense for both parties to move on." Buffalo will probably attempt to build through the draft after failing to make the playoffs for two straight season. Vanek would probably command a fair price, although his $7,142,857 annual cap hit might complicate things a little. Buffalo can probably increase their return if they agree to retain some of that cap hit.

Thomas Vanek was once again the Sabres' leading goal scorer.
He has achieved that milestone five out of the last six seasons. In 2013 Vanek scored 20 goals in 38 games. Cody Hodgson was next with 15 goals. The talented sniper also led the team in points with 41 and tied Tyler Ennis for the team lead in assists with 21. I think it's safe to say Vanek's the top Sabre player you should target next season.

Jochen Hecht announced his retirement from hockey.
After 13 seasons in the NHL the underrated two-way pivot decided to call it quits. Hecht played for St. Louis, Edmonton and Buffalo and scored 186 goals and registered 463 points in 833 NHL games. We wish him all the best.

Brian Flynn scored the Sabres' lone goal in a 2-1 shootout win over the Islanders Friday night.
Flynn has been one of the better rookies in the AHL this season and did manage 11 points in 26 games with the Sabres in 2013. The Sabres signed Flynn after he scored 18 goals and 48 points in 40 NCAA games during the 2011-12 season.

Ryan Miller was excellent in Fridays's 2-1 shootout win over the New York Islanders.
It was Miller's 500th game with the Buffalo Sabres as the 32-year-old is in the final year of his deal. And if that was Miller's last game as a Sabre, it was a nice finish. It's been a tough year for the former All-Star keeper, as he has posted a 17-17-5 record in this 48-game shortened season.

Ryan Miller has put his Buffalo home on the market.
In the grand scheme, it doesn't mean a whole lot, as Miller spends his summers in California. Still, Miller knows his future with the Sabres is still very much undecided, though the season finale against the Islanders could very well be his last game in Buffalo. The Sabres are rebuilding, and the 32-year-old is in the final year of his deal, meaning he could be moved this offseason. "I don't know which way it's going to go, so I'm not going to talk like I'm gone," Miller said. "I think I've got a lot more hockey in me, so being able to just kind of reflect and enjoy a moment is nice, but it's going to be another hockey game and I have to prepare and compete."

Ryan Miller will play in his 500th game Friday and all of them have come with the Buffalo Sabres.
There has been plenty of speculation that this may be his last match as a member of the Sabres, but he's going to approach it as just another game. "There's been a lot of 'could be last game as a Sabre' the last few years," Miller said. "I'm just trying to enjoy the moment. It's going to be my 500th game. I'm going to approach it the same way I've approached the other 499: Just put your pads on and try to do your best. See where it kind of goes, go out and have fun, try and make the saves and see where it all shakes out." He's gone through a disappointing year in Buffalo's crease during the lockout-shortened season and it's probable that the rebuilding Sabres will try to deal him elsewhere.

Chad Ruhwedel has been fairly quiet on the ice since joining the Buffalo Sabres, which can be a good thing for some defensemen.
He has compiled eight shots, five hits, seven blocks and an even plus-minus rating in six NHL appearances. Ruhwedel hasn't been a liability out on the ice despite being smaller than most big-league forwards, which has earned him some praise from interim coach Ron Rolston. "That's just the will of the player," said Rolston. "You see it all the time. It's basically how much fight you have in you, the will to win puck battles and get himself in position. We've been very pleased with that part of his game. You can see the skating, some of the things he can do with the puck and his stick skills. His competitive nature is very good." The San Diego, CA native is a solid skater and he could develop into a decent mobile blueliner. However, he'll need to get some points to warrant fantasy consideration.

Mikhail Grigorenko will probably head to the Rochester Americans this weekend to start the AHL playoffs Saturday in Toronto.
The Sabres close out their regular season on Friday night when they host the New York Islanders. "We haven't talked about this, but I guess I'll go to Rochester after the season's over," Grigorenko said Tuesday. "I don't know if they made their decision, but I'm ready to go there. If they want me to go, I'll go." In 24 games with Buffalo, the rookie forward has one goal and four assists.

Jochen Hecht scored for Buffalo Tuesday night.
His fifth goal of the season gave the Sabres a 2-1 lead early in the third period in what would eventually become a 4-2 victory. Hecht, who is the Sabres' candidate for the Masterton Trophy, has 14 points in 46 games this year after missing most the 2011-12 campaign because of a concussion.

Steve Ott provided Buffalo with the game-winning goal Tuesday night in a 4-2 victory against Pittsburgh.
He scored at the 17:26 mark of the third period to break a 2-2 tie. Ott also added a 10-minute misconduct penalty in the contest to bring his season total to 93 minutes in the sin bin. Ott has picked up nine goals and 24 points in 47 games during his first year with the Sabres.

Ryan Miller was excellent in Tuesday's 4-2 win against Pittsburgh.
He stopped 40 of the 42 shots he faced in a great rebound effort from a frustrating outing versus New York Rangers last Friday in his last start. Miller was pulled that night after surrendering four goals on 14 shots. It's been a tough year for the former All-Star keeper, as he has posted a 16-17-5 record with a .914 save percentage and a 2.87 GAA.

Thomas Vanek scored two goals and an assist to power Buffalo's 4-2 win over Pittsburgh Tuesday night.
His 20th goal of the 2013 campaign was deposited into an empty net to close out the match. Jochen Hecht and Steve Ott had the Sabres' other markers, while Cody Hodgson and Drew Stafford contributed two assists apiece in the win.

Ryan Miller is expected to start in goal against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night.
The game is on the road, which is no surprise considering the Patrick Roy-like treatment Miller got in his last home start. With the Sabres' last game on Friday a home tilt, it's very likely Tuesday will be the last time Miller suits up in a Sabres jersey since we fully expect the former Team USA goalie to be traded away in the offseason.

Jhonas Enroth gave up two goals in Buffalo's 2-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night.
Before this contest, Enroth had allowed just one goal in his last two starts and tonight was another encouraging performance. Neither Enroth nor Ryan Miller has been anything to write home about this season.

Thomas Vanek potted the only Buffalo goal in a 2-1 loss to the Jets Monday night.
Vanek was the hottest player in the NHL early in this 48-game shortened season. The Austrian winger has 18 goals and 37 points but has played in just 36 games due to various injuries.

Patrick Kaleta will not play on Monday due to a hand injury.
Kaleta sustained the ailment while blocking a shot on Friday. It remains to be seen if he'll return before the season ends.

Jhonas Enroth will play between the pipes on Monday.
Enroth relieved Ryan Miller early in the second period of Friday's game and proceeded to allow four goals on 15 shots. At the same time, Enroth has allowed just one goal in his last two starts.

Buffalo Sabres coach Ron Rolston is using the lockout as a means of motivating his players as the season draws to a close.
Buffalo has three games left and can't make the playoffs. "Guys were dying to play," Rolston said. "We talked about guys were dying to play games when the lockout was on. Everyone was dying to play hockey. Now they still have hockey to play. There's three games and they have to be excited about it."

Buffalo won't make the playoffs this season, but they can still spoil the Jets' chances on Monday.
Winnipeg is three point out of eighth place with just three games left. The two teams will play on Monday. "I guess you can say jealousy breeds a little bit of frustration, and if they have a chance at this, we can possibly knock them off and make them feel the same way that we feel," Steve Ott said. "Personally and pride-wise, I would like to do that to another team so they can have this same feeling."

Mikhail Grigorenko will be in the lineup when the Sabres host Winnipeg on Monday night.
The 18-year-old hasn't played for Buffalo since March 12 and will most likely play between Jochen Hecht and Nathan Gerbe. "When I first came here when the season started, I was a little nervous and stuff," he said. "I didn't have a lot of confidence. After I went to juniors and came back here again, I felt more comfortable. I felt like it's my team and I belong here." Grigorenko recorded one goal and four assists in 22 games with Buffalo before he was returned to the junior ranks of the QMJHL.

The only positive thing out of the Sabres' terrible 8-4 loss to the Rangers Friday night was the fact that rookie defenseman Mark Pysyk scored his first NHL goal.
It came on the power play with only 40 seconds left in the game. Although Pysyk put up big offensive numbers in the WHL with the Edmonton Oil Kings, he did not wow anyone in the AHL this season and projects as a steady two-way number three defenseman. He's not really a fantasy asset at this time

It was not a pretty scene in Buffalo Friday night with regard to Ryan Miller.
The Sabres' star netminder was booed and mocked by Buffalo fans afer he allowed four goals in just over a period of hockey. Although Miller's play has slipped the last two seasons, it was rather shocking to hear Buffalo fans unload on Miller during Friday's contest. In fact, it was very reminiscent of the way Patrcik Roy bowed out of Montreal after a fabulous career with the Habs. It's very disrespectful after what he's done for Buffalo, what he's done for this team, this organization and this city," defenseman Adam Pardy said. "It [ticks] you off when you hear that. He's been great all year. We've had wins when we've had no business winning games. The reason was Ryan Miller. To hear that is just absolute disrespect for what he's done for this organization." We expect Jonas Enroth to get the start Monday at home against the Jets and Miller to start away from home in Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Ryan Miller was pulled early in the second period after allowing four goals on only 14 shots in Buffalo's 8-4 loss to the Rangers.
It's not as if Jonas Enroth was any better in relief. He allowed four goals on 15 shots. Buffalo has now officially been eliminated from playoff contention.

The loss eliminated Buffalo from the playoffs. Nathan Gerbe, Drew Stafford, Cody Hodgson and Mark Pysyk scored the Sabres' goals.

Ryan Miller will start against the New York Rangers on Friday.
Buffalo is four points behind the eighth place Rangers and the Sabres have just four games left to play, so they need to win tonight. Miller has a career 2.19 GAA and .927 save percentage in 23 games against the Rangers.

The Buffalo Sabres must get at least a point against the New York Rangers to stay mathematically alive in the playoff race.
Of course, a regulation win would be a lot bigger for Buffalo, which is clinging to seriously faint playoff hopes. "We definitely need help," Steve Ott said Thursday, "but we need to win our games and let other teams hopefully take care of themselves." The fact that the Sabres are still in the playoff push is pretty remarkable considering how their season has played out, but a loss Friday would have them looking toward the offseason.

Thomas Vanek was involved in both of the Buffalo Sabres' regulation goals in a 3-2 shootout win against the Boston Bruins on Wednesday.
Vanek had a goal and an assist to push his season totals to 36 points in 34 games. While he's slowed down (thanks partially to injuries) since his red-hot start to 2013, he's remained a valuable guy who likely continues to provide great value compared to when he was selected in many drafts.

The Buffalo Sabres kept their playoff hopes alive on Wednesday thanks to a strong performance from Ryan Miller in a 3-2 shootout win against the Boston Bruins.
Miller stopped 41 out of 43 shots to improve his record to 15-17-5 on the season. While that win total is obviously disappointing, he has respectable numbers (.915 save percentage and 2.81 GAA), though it's clear that the Sabres need him to stand on his head to be a more legitimate contender.

Ryan Miller will start for Buffalo Wednesday night.
Miller watched from the bench, as Jhonas Enroth played both games for the Sabres over the weekend and posted a pair of wins. However, interim coach Ron Rolston has decided to go back to Miller against the Boston Bruins.

Backup goaltender Jhonas Enroth started and won both games over the weekend, but Ryan Miller has played fairly well this month. "It will be a difficult one," Rolston said. "Certainly both guys are quality. Jhonas has played really well and we know what 'Millsy' can do."

Mikhail Grigorenko isn't expected to play Wednesday night when the Sabres play in Boston.
He joined the team for Tuesday's practice and traveled with them as well. "He will remain on the roster for the time being until we get him in the lineup here or deem him better served by being in the lineup in Rochester," said GM Darcy Regier. Grigorenko recorded one goal and four assists in 22 games with Buffalo before he was returned to the junior ranks of the QMJHL.

Buffalo Sabres recall Mikhail Grigorenko from the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL.
The Ramparts were eliminated from the playoffs Friday, which meant it was only a matter of time before Grigorenko returned to the Sabres or their AHL affiliate in Rochester. As demonstrated earlier in the season, Grigorenko has tons of fantasy potential but is likely to play limited minutes over the final two weeks as he adjusts to the NHL again. He's worth consideration in only certain formats.

Tyler Ennis snapped an 11-game goalless drought when he scored in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.
He has been playing left wing of late alongside Cody Hodgson and Thomas Vanek after starting out the year at center. "I understood," Ennis said referring to the move. "Sometimes you need to make some changes to spark some offense. I'm comfortable in both spots. I like the wing too. I've played it the last few years. It's just about working hard all over the ice, just trying to win battles. When it's not going well, you've just got to simplify." Interim coach Ron Rolston wouldn't commit to keeping Ennis on the wing for the team's remaining five games, so he may be back as the club's second-line pivot before the regular season is over. Ennis has recorded just 10 goals and 27 points in 42 matches, along with a minus-9 rating.

Kevin Porter scored a goal in Buffalo's 3-1 victory Sunday.
Porter is now on a four-game points streak and has seven points in seven contests in April. He typically has no fantasy value, but if you're in the mood for a gamble, you could do worse than picking him up in the hope that his hot streak will last the rest of the season.

Steve Ott registered an assist Monday.
Ott has three goals and five points in seven games this month. He's signed through 2013-14, but might enter into contract negotiations regarding a possible extension this summer.

Thomas Vanek recorded his 18th assist of the season on Sunday.
It was a great no-look pass that perfectly set up Tyler Ennis for a power-play goal. This was Vanek's fourth game since returning from an upper body injury, but just his first point since the ailment. It wouldn't be surprising if Vanek finishes the season on a high note.

Jochen Hecht scored a goal in Buffalo's 3-1 win Sunday.
Hecht has two goals and four points in six games this season. Even with that mini-hot streak, he has little to no fantasy value in standard leagues.

Ryan Miller almost never spends back-to-back games on the bench when he's healthy, but it happened over the weekend.
Jhonas Enroth earned a 29-save shutout on Saturday, so the Sabres decided to give him another start. Enroth turned aside 32 of 33 shots in a 3-1 win Sunday, so it will be interesting to see who the Sabres go with on Wednesday.

Tyler Ennis scored his 10th goal of the season in Buffalo's 3-1 win over the Lightning Sunday.
Ennis is one of the few Buffalo players who hasn't been a major disappointment this season, racking up 27 points in 42 contests. He's a legitimate power play threat due to his slick hands. Jochen Hecht and Kevin Porter also found the back of the net in the Buffalo win.

Jhonas Enroth blocked 32 of 33 shots Sunday as the Sabres defeated Tampa Bay by a score of 3-1.
The two teams might simply be playing out the string at this point, but Enroth is showcasing his skills in search of future employment. The Buffalo backup has started two straight games and won them both this weekend.

Kevin Porter has six points in his last six games for Buffalo.
Porter has three goals and three assists during that span. However, he only has eight points in 25 games in this 48-game shortened season and isn't worthy of your fantasy consideration.

Mikhail Grigorenko is now free to come back to the NHL or make his debut in the AHL with the Rochester Americans.

"We'll wait for him to finish up, up there with meetings with [Quebec coach] Patrick Roy and whatever they want to do, and then we'll bring him back here." Grigorenko has plenty of offensive upside, but was only averaging 9:45 minutes per games with Buffalo earlier in the year.

Chad Ruhwedel made his NHL debut in the Sabres' 1-0 win over the Flyers Saturday.
Ruhwedel, who inked a two-year, entry-level contract with the Sabres after three years with UMass-Lowell was an undrafted free agent. With Tyler Myers done for the rest of the season with a broken bone in his leg, Ruhwedel will take his place.

Jhonas Enroth turned aside all 29 shots he faced in a 1-0 victory against Philadelphia Saturday.
The goose egg was his first of the season and his third win in nine appearances.

Christian Ehrhoff recorded the only goal in a 1-0 win over Philadelphia Saturday afternoon.
His fifth tally of the season, which came 17 seconds into the third period, was assisted by Steve Ott and Kevin Porter. Ehrhoff has 18 points and a plus-11 rating in 41 games.

The Buffalo Sabres announced the signing of college free agent Chad Ruhwedel on Saturday and he'll make his NHL debut against Philadelphia this afternoon.
He inked a two-year, entry-level contract with the Sabres after three years with UMass-Lowell. Interim coach Ron Rolston isn't sure who will Ruthwedel will play alongside. Buffalo will play him rather than use one of their minor-league call-ups with Tyler Myers done for the season.

The Sabres have not indicarted who will start when. We're betting Miller starts Saturday afternoon against the Flyers and Enroth gets the call Sunday against the Lightning.

Thats' not a good thing if you are a Buffalo supporter. The trades of Jordan Leopold, T.J. Brennan and Robyn Regehr and the injuries to Tyler Myers and Andrew Sulzer have elevated Pardy on the Sabres' depth chart. It won't be pretty in chicken wing town for the last two weeks of the season.

The towering defenseman has been a disappointment on the scale of his size at times in this campaign, but that's still a discouraging update. The Sabres didn't give a window of recovery beyond that vague season-ending label, so it's unclear how deep into the offseason (or even 2013-14 season) this might go.

Jhonas Enroth is expected to start one of the Buffalo Sabres' two games this weekend.
The Sabres host the Flyers on Saturday and the Lightning on Sunday, so it makes sense coach Ron Rolston would split up his goalies. Neither Enroth nor Ryan Miller has been anything to write home about this season and it's likely the Sabres' front office will have to do some serious retooling this offseason.

Brian Flynn scored a shorthanded goal in Buffalo's 5-1 loss Thursday.
It was Flynn's fifth goal and ninth point in 19 games this season. Kevin Porter and Andrej Sekera each registered an assist on Flynn's goal.

Ryan Miller turned aside 28 of 32 shots in a 5-1 defeat Thursday.
Miller was yanked after 40 minutes in favor of Jhonas Enroth. Enroth kicked out nine of 10 shots in the losing effort.

Sabres president Ted Black is still optimistic about delivering a champion to his passionate fanbase.
Buffalo has struggled this season with a 16-18-6 record, but that hasn't quieted the organization's feeling about being legitimate contenders down the road. "Fans here deserve a winner more than any city I have ever driven through, read about in a book, than I can possibly imagine," Black said. "Fans here are among the best and most passionate in any sport. They deserve a winner. We're going to do everything in our power to give them a winner."

Steve Ott wasn't afraid to stick up for his teammates during a radio interview Wednesday where he criticized Buffalo's fans for booing the club on home ice.
"I think it's completely ridiculous, to be honest with you," Ott said. In a follow-up discussion, he commented that he wasn't worried about how the fans will react when the team returns home for Thursday's match versus Montreal. "They're proud, passionate fans. I love it," he said. "I think we're all that way. I'm an emotional player. They're emotional fans. We have the same attitude in this dressing room. I think it's great they show they care. Obviously, just looking for that positive atmosphere in that arena. There's a lot of great factors, things to be proud of getting closer to that playoff spot." Ott has eight goals, 21 points and 67 penalty minutes in 40 games during his first season as a Buffalo Sabre.

Thomas Vanek returned to action Tuesday night after missing the past six games with an upper-body injury.
He played 19:19 of ice time and posted an abysmal minus-4 rating in a 4-1 loss to Winnipeg. Vanek was also credited with two shots. He was listed as a "possibility" for Tuesday's match and was clearly a step or two behind. Look for him to do better against Montreal on Thursday night.

Ryan Miller yielded three goals on 29 shots in a 4-1 loss to Winnipeg on Tuesday.
The Buffalo goalie had a three-game winning streak heading into Tuesday's contest, but that was halted by the Jets. Miller has been playing better of late. Still, he is a bit of a risky play down the stretch considering how much the Sabres have struggled this campaign.

Kevin Porter had Buffalo's only goal in a 4-1 loss to Winnipeg Tuesday night.
He has three goals and six points in 23 games with the Sabres this season and isn't worthy of your fantasy consideration.

Buffalo Sabres coach Ron Rolston said there's a "possibility" Thomas Vanek will play Tuesday night.
Vanek missed his sixth game in a road Sunday, although Buffalo managed to win in a shootout without him. The Sabres are only four points out of a playoff spot and could really use the Austrian sniper back in the lineup. Check back after pregame warmups to see if Vanek will be in the lineup tonight.

It looks like Ryan Miller will start in goal Tuesday night.
As Miller goes, so do the Sabres. The former Team USA netminder has been streaking of late, stopping 91 of 96 shots while Buffalo eked back into the playoff picture. While he's been mostly a disappointment this season, a hot Miller could help some fantasy owners make a title run at the end of the year.

Ryan Miller has been enjoying some hot play of late, which has helped the Buffalo Sabres claw back into the playoff hunt.
He has stopped 91 of the 96 shots he's faced in his last three games, while posting a .948 save percentage and 1.62 goals-against average. The Sabres are currently just four points behind the New York Islanders for the eighth and final postseason spot. Miller has been mostly disappointing this year, sporting a 14-15-5 record with a .915 save percentage and a 2.77 GAA, but he appears to be gaining some momentum.

Cody Hodgson registered an assist on Sunday.
Hodgson spent part on March 31's game on the fourth line, but he has a goal and an assist in the three games that have followed. At the same time, Hodgson has logged around 15 minutes in each of his last five contests, which is down from his season average of 18:41 minutes per contest.

Steve Ott scored a goal in Buffalo's 3-2 shootout win Sunday.
Ott also recorded a game-high 10 hits. He's been one of the most physical players in the league this season with an incredible 166 hits in 39 contests. Ott's also been shining offensively lately with a goal in each of his last three games.

Patrick Kaleta scored his first goal of the season in Buffalo's 3-2 shootout win Sunday.
Steve Ott also scored a goal in the Sabres' victory. Cody Hodgson, Jochen Hecht, and Nathan Gerbe each registered an assist for Buffalo.

Ryan Miller kicked out 37 of 39 shots in regulation in a 3-2 shootout victory Sunday night.
Miller was perfect through three shootout rounds. He has allowed just five goals in his last three starts.

Tyler Myers has been a colossal disappointment for much of his fourth NHL season.
The former Calder Trophy winner has only four assists in the last 17 games, but Myers has played at least 23:59 in the last four games. "I think it's been night and day from the start of the season until now," Myers said about his play. "There's always room for improvement for any player. I feel I've really simplified my game. It's just a matter of jumping when . you see the opportunity." He shouldn't be counted on in yearly formats for the rest of the season.

Thomas Vanek (muscle strain) will miss his sixth straight game Sunday against the Devils.
The Sabres' leading scorer skipped Sunday's morning skate. "We wanted to give him today off completely because he's been out there a lot," coach Rolston said. However, he should practice again Monday and coach Rolston has indicated that Vanek could return to the lineup Tuesday in Winnipeg.

Ryan Miller is the likely starter Sunday at home against Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils.
Miller's record stands at an ugly 13-15-5 but he's given up just five goals over his last three games. He's actually not a bad play against a struggling New Jersey team who played last night against the Leafs.

The Minnesota Wild had a difficult time agreeing to send forward Johan Larsson to the Sabres in the trade that saw them acquire Jason Pominville this week.
Larsson was a favorite of many scouts in the Minnesota organization after he was drafted in the second round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, but the team understands that a player of Pominville's caliber would require a steep price. "Scouts, when you trade a first-round pick, it's always a little uneasy feeling probably, but when you get a good player [like Pominville], it's fine," said Wild Assistant GM Brent Flahr. "Probably more uneasiness comes from trading a guy like Larsson, who you draft and get to know a bit and appreciate. I'm a big fan of Johan Larsson. I think everybody knows that, but that's the business." The new Sabre profiles as a solid two-way player in the NHL once he reaches his full potential.

Luke Adam's goal against Ottawa Friday night was his first in the NHL since December 17, 2011.
Adam was once regarded as a hot prospect. That is not the case any longer. Although he may garner some additional ice time over the last three weeks of the season as the Sabres have cleaned house, Adam can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Friday night's game against the Senators was the first game the Sabres have played without Tomas Vanek or Jason Pominville since 2006.
Vanek is nursing an upper-body injury and Pominville was traded to Minnesota in a deadline deal Wednesday. Not having their two biggest offensive threats of the past few years in the lineup didn't hurt the Sabres as they were able to defeat Ottawa 4-2.

Sabres coach Ron Rolston was hopeful Vanek would be able to get back in the lineup tonight. The Austrian winger has missed the last four games with the ailment and this appear to be an injury that we'll have to minor day by day and game by game. Vanek has missed four games with the injury but he skated with the team Thursday and could be back against Ottawa. "He looked pretty good, see how he's feeling in the morning and pregame skate and go from there," coach Ron Rolston said. We should know more after today's morning skate.

Ryan Miller wants to speak with Buffalo GM Darcy Regier about how he fits into the team's future plans.
"We'll just see where everything falls, talk to Darcy about what his plan is and how I'm going to fit into it or what's going on because these aren't conversations we've had time to have," said Miller. "Probably given that the trade deadline has come and gone now, I don't know if we'll have a chance to talk about it till after the season." The Sabres have started their rebuilding mode after dealing veterans Jason Pominville, Jordan Leopold and Robyn Regehr ahead of Wednesday's deadline. Miller could be moved this summer if he isn't part of the team's long-term plan, but it would surprising to see him head elsewhere since it would leave Buffalo's crease situation in a complete state of disarray.

Johan Larsson and Matt Hackett have been sent to Buffalo's AHL affiliate in Rochester.
The Sabres acquired them both from Minnesota as part of the deal that sent former captain Jason Pominville to the Wild.

Larsson has 15 goals and 37 points in 62 AHL games this season. He was taken by the Wild in the second round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Matthew Hackett has been acquired by the Buffalo Sabres.
Hackett gives the Sabres a young goaltender to provide them with other options in the event that they don't sign Ryan Miller at the end of the 2013-14 campaign. Hackett has a 2.66 GAA and .907 save percentage in 43 AHL games this season.
