NewsMark Stone suffered a shoulder injury Saturday while playing for the Binghamton Senators.
ImpactStone had a shot to make the Senators on the second line but he was deemed not ready and sent to the minors to get time on the first line. He was being evaluated as to the severity of the injury Saturday night. Mark Borowiecki was also hurt in the game but it is not thought to be serious.

ImpactHe is projected to play alongside Clarke MacArthur and Kyle Turris. Cory Conacher, Mike Hoffman and Mika Zibanejad are also trying out for the position. All four of the guys bring a different dimension to the game," coach Paul MacLean said. "Hoffman brings the dimension of speed and is somebody who can really shoot the puck, Conacher has tenacity and skill with the puck, Mark Stone has size and good hands down around the net, but maybe not as good a skater. Mika brings power and speed and a big shot."

NewsMark Stone is projected to be healthy by the time training camp starts and he wants to challenge for an NHL roster spot.
Impact"I know I'm knocking on the door," he said. "It's just a matter of me putting together some consistent hockey and showing I can play at this level for an 82-game season." Stone skated in four games with Ottawa last season and he suited up in one playoff game, where he suffered a high ankle sprain. The Senators will see how he does at their rookie camp this week prior to his involvement in the club's main camp next week.

ImpactIt's been over a month since Stone was hurt in Game 4 of the Senators' second-round series against the Penguins. Injuries of this type can take as much as six or seven weeks to heal sometimes, so you would think Stone will be able to fully heal and prepare for training camp in September.

ImpactHe had been sidelined with a broken finger, but he returned to play three games last week for AHL Binghamton over the weekend. Stone made his NHL debut in the 2012 playoffs and registered an assist in Game 5 against the New York Rangers. He hasn't played in the regular season yet. It should be noted that Stone was brought up earlier in the day, prior to the announcement of Milan Michalek's likely return Wednesday from injury. It's unclear how that will impact Ottawa's lineup, but the situation should become clearer by Wednesday afternoon.
