CSN New England
ImpactHe has registered 10 assists in 20 games but has yet to score a goal. As well, he needs to improve on his 41.7 percent success rate in the faceoff circle and his minus one plus/minus rating. Spooner could also work on increasing his shot total. He has taken only 37 shots. That said, the 21-year-old pivot has done fairly well in his first tour of the NHL. NewsBefore Ryan Spooner was sent down, he got to play alongside Jarome Iginla and Milan Lucic.
Impact"He was OK. I'd say his game was OK," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "You're also playing against top lines now. It's a different dynamic. But he had his opportunity to play with some good guys and he wasn't bad. He just probably wasn't able to get the same room that he had in other games and he realized it's a little tighter that way." Spooner never had a real chance of securing a scoring line center spot over Patrice Bergeron or David Krejci. Still, he had 57 points in 59 AHL games last season and is worth keeping a close eye on if he gets summoned as an injury replacement.

The Bruins are deep down the middle and that's where they'd like to play him when he makes the jump to the NHL.

"I think if I do that, hopefully they'll make a spot for me. If not, I'd be upset going back to Providence to play, but it's a great league down there, too, and the coaching staff is great, so I can learn a lot of stuff down there." Spooner led the Baby Bruins in scoring last year with 57 points in 59 games and he suited up in four contests with Boston. The Bruins are deep down the middle with Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, Chris Kelly, and Gregory Campbell in the fold, but Spooner could remain with the team as a winger if he plays at the NHL level this year.
