Akeson managed two goals and three points in the seven game series against the Rangers and that play, along with a 24 goal, 64 point effort in the AHL in 2013-14, was enough to warrant a qualifying offer from Philadelphia.

ImpactAkeson scored his first NHL playoff goal on Sunday and it came after he took a double minor in Game 1 which resulted in a couple of power play goals for the Rangers which put the game out of reach. His power play goal tied the game at two apiece. "I don't think a bad penalty is going to determine if I play harder or not, I try my hardest no matter what," Akeson said. "It was unfortunate for the first game, but we looked past it. We won the second game, and now we look onto the third."

Impact"It feels pretty good," Akeson said. "It's pretty exciting. The puck popped out there on a nice play by G (Claude Giroux) and luckily I was able to put it home. I know my family and friends are here and are probably loving it just as much as I am right now. It's fun to experience this. I don't know what else I can say. I'm pretty speechless right now." Akeson had an amazing season. He started with the ECHL Trenton Titans and worked his way up the ranks.
