NewsThe Calgary Herald says that Roman Horak is a bubble player heading into his third season with the Flames organization.
ImpactHorak has split the last two seasons between the NHL and the AHL and a breakthrough offensively will certainly help his chances and he has only five goals and 13 assists in 81 career games. "It's hard to make the NHL," Horak said. "Basically, if you don't make it in the first three or four years, it's going to be really hard to get back. I know this is one of my last shots and I'm going to do whatever it takes." Look for Horak to settle in as the Flames third line center and expect a jump to 10-15 goals and 30-35 points this season.
Horak hopes to stick as third line center | 09/22/2013 7:36 AM

ImpactHorak is hoping to break through offensively this season after a two goal, seven point season in 20 games during the 2013 campaign after a three goal, 11 point season in 61 games in 2011-12. He was afraid to make a mistake offensively in his first two seasons as he did not want to be benched or sent to the minors. Look for Horak to break out a bit in 2013-14 as he should get 10-15 goals and 30-35 points.

NewsCoach Bob Hartley has put Roman Horak, Roman Cervenka and Jiri Hudler together to form a "Czeching Line".
ImpactThe three natives of the Czech Republic will hopefully mesh well together. Hudler grew up being a big fan of Horak's dad, also named Roman, who played in Europe his whole career and scored three goals at the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics. "They're both skilled and really smart players, so I'm going to try to fit in and be a young guy who tries to fly around and pass to them and let them create," Horak said. "Obviously, I watched them play, so I know who they are, and I'm just trying to fit. (Cervenka) has been playing the Czech league and in Russia, so I watched him. And they both play for the national team, so whenever there is a world championship or something like that, you can watch that on TV. So I, obviously, saw that they're both great, great players." Horak has a goal and an assist in five games and the Flames are still high on the youngster.
