Leafs will re-sign Bozak if contract fits | 05/16/2013 12:30 PM
NewsToronto GM Dave Nonis said the team will re-sign Tyler Bozak if the contract makes sense.
ImpactNonis said, "the (salary) cap is going down, and how we allocate our dollars is very important if we're going to remain competitive." Bozak will become an unrestricted free agent in July if a new deal isn't worked out with the Maple Leafs. It was also revealed that he tore his triceps muscle at the end of Game 5 against Boston. The injury was initially reported as a bicep issue. In any event, his "arm injury" will take about four weeks to recover from.

ImpactAccording to Leafs vice-president of hockey operations, Dave Poulin, the Toronto center suffered the injury on a faceoff late in Game 5. The ailment kept him out of Games 6 and 7. Bozak is expected to need four weeks to recover. He can become an unrestricted free agent this summer and now that the Leafs' season is over, it is expected that contract talks will resume.

James Mirtle on Twitter
ImpactBozak missed Games 6 and 7 with an upper-body injury. It was thought to be the same shoulder injury that sidelined him late in the season. We still don't know the severity of the bicep injury and it's unclear if the two ailments are related. Unless something is torn, it's hard to imagine Bozak will need surgery, but it's clear now why he couldn't play through the injury.

No update on Tyler Bozak 's status for Gm 7 | 05/13/2013 1:10 PM
NewsPredictably, coach Randy Carlyle chose not to comment on the status of Tyler Bozak for Game 7 on Monday night.
Jonas Siegel on Twitter
ImpactHe didn't play Sunday in Game 6 because of an "upper-body injury," which is believed to be his ailing shoulder. Bozak is a valuable faceoff man for the Leafs and he has two points in five games versus Boston in the team's quarterfinal series. We probably won't know if he's playing until close to game time.
Tyler Bozak misses Game 6 with UBI | 05/12/2013 10:44 PM
NewsTyler Bozak was not able to play in Sunday's game against the Bruins due to an upper-body injury.
ImpactGiven it's the playoffs the Maple Leafs have been even less liberal with injury information, but the belief is it's a recurrence of the shoulder ailment that troubled him toward the end of the regular season. His status for Monday's Game Seven is not yet known, but Joe Colborne will likely step in again should the center be unable to suit up.

Bozak expecting to play but faceoffs an issue | 04/30/2013 1:31 PM
NewsTyler Bozak (shoulder) says he expects to play in Wednesday's Game 1 but taking faceoffs could be an issue.
Jonas Siegel on Twitter
ImpactBozak missed the Leafs' final two regular-season games with the ailment. While the Leafs need him in the lineup, it's unclear how useful Bozak could be if he can't take draws. Also, if Bozak's shoulder is bad enough to inhibit his ability on faceoffs, there's a question about how much it will affect his shot. Even if Bozak plays, it doesn't sound like he'll be anywhere near 100 percent.

NewsToronto GM Dave Nonis expects Tyler Bozak to be ready for the Maple Leafs' playoff opener Wednesday night.

NewsTyler Bozak (shoulder) skated in full gear prior to Monday's practice.
ImpactIt was his first time back on the ice since he suffered a suspected shoulder injury against Tampa Bay last Wednesday. However, Mark Zwolinski of the Toronto Star reported that Bozak looked uncomfortable shooting so his status for Wednesday night's playoff opener in Boston should be considered questionable.
Bozak questionable Saturday v Habs | 04/27/2013 1:32 PM
NewsTyler Bozak will likley not be able to play Saturday night against Montreal.
ImpactHe apparently has a shoulder injury and is listed as day-to-day. Bozak did not skate Saturday morning and we have some serious doubts as to whether he will get the green light to dress. Look for Nazim Kadri to center Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul as he did Thursday night against Florida.

Bozak, MacArthur are trade possibilities | 03/28/2013 11:32 AM
NewsTyler Bozak's name is coming up in trade whispers again, with the NHL trade deadline less than a week away, but he isn't letting it bother him.
Impact"You hear that stuff all the time in this market and it just comes with the territory . . . I think we're playing great as a team now and I want to focus on that," said Bozak, who is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. "I hope things work out for us and I'd love to stay here (in Toronto)." Clarke MacArthur is another potential UFA, who hockey insiders could be used as trade bait by the Maple Leafs.
Tyler Bozak scores lone goal in loss to Pens | 03/14/2013 11:10 PM
NewsTyler Bozak scored his seventh goal of the season Thursday, but it wasn't enough as Toronto dropped a 3-1 result on home ice to the Penguins.

Scout: Leafs unlikely to deal Tyler Bozak | 03/07/2013 8:57 AM
NewsAccording to a scout, the Leafs will probably keep Tyler Bozak for the rest of the season and then might allow him to walk as an unrestricted free agent.
Impact"I don't think they'll trade him at the deadline," the scout said. "What are you going to get for an impending UFA? Not much. Keep him and hopefully make the playoffs. I don't think they'll re-sign him in the summer though. He's going to want Ryan O'Reilly money ($4 million to $5 million per season) and I don't think he's worth it." Bozak centers Toronto's top line between Phil Kessel and James van Riemsdyk. He has six goals and 14 points in 24 games. He is also third in the league in faceoffs taken (545) and he's won 54.7 percent of the time.
Tyler Bozak shrugs off trade rumors | 02/18/2013 12:33 PM
NewsTyler Bozak isn't letting the trade talk get to him.
ImpactThe 26-year-old is making $1.5 million this year and will be an unrestricted this summer. "It's Toronto," Bozak said. "I've been part of trade rumours since the day I got here. Everyone in here has been part of trade rumors this year, last year, during the lockout. It comes with playing here. I'm happy here. Hopefully, I'll be able to stay." Leafs coach Randy Carlyle called him a "workhorse," and he's right: Bozak is tops among Leafs forwards in ice time, while being a great faceoff man.
Leafs' Bo- doesn't know about contract talks | 01/23/2013 12:45 PM
NewsTyler Bozak refuted a rumor on Tuesday that there has been contract talks between his agent and Toronto GM David Nonis.
Impact"I don't think so," said Bozak, who is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer if an extension isn't worked out. "I have not heard anything on that front. I'm just focusing on season and playing the games." The Toronto center has a goal and an assist in the team's first two contests this season.
Tyler Bozak has a chance to be Buds #1 center | 01/12/2013 2:39 PM
NewsThe competition for the Maple Leafs' number one center position will come down to the disappointing Tyler Bozak and the newly-acquired James van van Riemsdyk.
ImpactAlthough it has been rumored that Bozak will be traded in a deal for Roberto Lunongo, nothing is really happening on that front. At least for the start of training camp, Bozak will skate between wingers Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul on the team's first unit. van Riemsdyk will likely lineup on left wing on a line with Mikhail Grabovski and Nikolai Kulemin. It is very early and these plans are hardly etched in stone. However, we wouldn't sell our Bozak stock just yet.
