NewsIt shouldn't come as a surprise that when Steve Stamkos scores the Tampa Bay Lightning stand a much better chance of winning.
ImpactThe Bolts are 5-2 when Stamkos scores a goal, 2-4-1 when he does not. During the team's recent six-game winless streak, he had zero goals and just two points over five contests entering Saturday's match versus Florida. Stamkos snapped out of his funk in that game though with two goals and one assist in Tampa's 6-5 overtime win. "I expect a lot of myself and my teammates expect a lot and that's definitely something that I have to produce more often to give our team the chance to win," Stamkos said. "It just (stinks) that you have to go through it when the team is not playing well and you think that there's probably some sort of correlation there for me. I know I have to produce and I'm definitely putting pressure on myself to do that." However, even when he is struggling to produce he still works hard, which shows his growing maturity and leadership capabilities. He also has the skill to rebound despite the pressures he faces each night.

He's behind just Mario Lemieux, who scored 215, Dale Hawerchuk, who had 220, and of course Wayne Gretzky at 329. "It's pretty surreal when you think about it," Stamkos said. "It's something that you work hard towards. It's not something that you set as a goal but it's an accomplishment to be up with guys like that. It just goes to show the quality of teammates and coaching staff I've played with and the opportunities I've got.
