ImpactIt was Postma's first goal of the season and it was also a game-winning goal. Postma played in only 20 games this season and registered three points in those games. Michael Frolik, Evander Kane, Carl Klingberg and Blake Wheeler also scored for the Jets, while Patrice Cormier added two helpers in the victory.

ImpactHe finished his blood thinner medication Friday, the final hurdle to his return to contact practices. "I've felt fine the last two months," Postma said. "Because of the blood thinners, it's such a risk to be on them and be physical. Anything could happen, a bruise or internal bleeding. It's pretty scary stuff I didn't know about, but I know now. "I'm just kind of glad it's over with." Once he regains his conditioning and timing Postma will return to action. We're thinking it will be about 10 days before you see him in a game.

Impact"When I fly I will have to wear compression stockings on my legs from now on," said Postma. "I can't be seated for more than hour at a time. I have to get up and walk around. Just little stuff like that -- I have to take an aspirin when I fly just to thin my blood a little bit." Doctors never definitively determined what caused the clot, but traveling may have had something to do with it. Postma might be available to return in about a week.

ImpactWinnipeg was rumored to be talking trade with a number of teams over the weekend and Postma's name has come up in discussions. The Jets have a bit of a logjam on the back end led by Tobias Enstrom, Dustin Byfuglien and Zach Bogosian. Bogosian is set to return from off-season wrist surgery soon and an NHL executive said this past weekend that "The ascension of (Zach) Redmond puts the Jets in a strong position." If the team wants to shake up their personnel then Postma may be able to fetch a decent return because he has some offensive upside and is a restricted free agent at the end of this season.

ImpactHe scored a goal and added two assists in Winnipeg's 8-3 loss to Tampa Friday and now has five points in eight NHL games. Postma was a scoring star with the Calgary Hitmen in junior hockey registering 126 points in 136 games over two seasons. He also posted some impressive numbers in the AHL with 136 points in 215 games over three plus seasons. Postma seems to be getting power-play ice time and may be a nice depth defenseman pickup.

He got a one-way deal with the team this past summer and signed a minor-league contract once the lockout begun to stay fresh with AHL St. John's. He has produced seven goals and 11 assists in 27 games this season. His IceCaps teammate Zach Redmond, who has eight markers and 17 points in 34 contests, may also get a look for the position.
