|Flaws:||Needs to simplify his game, since he tends to run around in his own end at times. Also tries to do too much with the puck. On-ice antics may at times annoy his own teammates and the coaching staff. Could stand to become a bit more disciplined on the ice (and in the dressing room).|

ImpactSubban's goal late in the first period cut the Senators lead to 2-1 and should have given the Habs some life, but the team was unable to get any other pucks behind Craig Anderson. With two goals and two assists in the five-game series, Subban is one of the few Habs players who can rightfully hold his head high.
Subban believes Habs are 'better' than Sens | 05/09/2013 10:58 AM

Impact"We still have a pulse right now, we're still alive and [Thursday's] game is the biggest game of the season. We need to be ready to play," Subban said. "Quite frankly, I want to beat these guys. We have another opportunity [Thursday] to play and we can beat these guys. We're better." His quote about being better than Ottawa could end up as bulletin board material, but the Canadiens are dealing with some key injuries heading into Game 5 and could use all the motivation they can get. The highly competitive defenseman and Norris Trophy finalist has three points in four games against the Senators in the series.

Suter was only six points behind them, which is pretty amazing when you consider he was playing with an entirely new team in a shortened season without a real preseason to get adjusted. No rift between Subban, Pacioretty | 05/07/2013 9:22 AM
NewsThere is no rift between P.K. Subban and Max Pacioretty.
ImpactThe two were shown arguing on the bench in Sunday's loss. Chalk it up to a heat-of-the-game incident as the two don't see what all the fuss is. "We talk all the time, it's high emotion," said Subban. "I spoke to Max. We're fine and ready for the game (Tuesday). It's (the media's) focus to focus on all the little things but for us it's the big things. . Sometimes the game gets emotional and that's fine. Max and I came into the league at the same time, into the organization at the same time. We're great friends so we want to win."
Canadiens rack up PIMs in Sunday's loss | 05/06/2013 10:24 AM
NewsThe Montreal Canadiens took 30 penalties for 129 minutes in Sunday's 6-1 loss to Ottawa.
ImpactP.K. Subban led all skaters with 25 minutes in the sin bin and his emotion boiled over long before he was given a game misconduct prior to the midway point of the third period. Subban was involved in a vocal and public disagreement with teammate Max Pacioretty over a bit of suicide pass, which resulted in the Montreal defenseman getting his bell rung a bit. It wasn't a good night for the dynamic rearguard, but if your fantasy playoff pool benefits from penalty minutes then Subban, Colby Armstron (15), Rene Bourque (10), Travis Moen (15), Jarred Tinordi (15), Ryan White (17) and Francis Bouillon (15) gave owners plenty of production Sunday night.

Habs haven't upped Subban offer since May | 01/26/2013 2:13 PM
NewsThe Montreal Canadiens are sticking with their two-year/$5.1 million offer to restricted free agent P.K. Subban.
Renaud Lavoie on Twitter
ImpactThat's the same deal that they presented to him in May. By contrast, it's believed that Subban wants a deal that's more in line with Jamie Benn's recently signed five-year/$26.25 million contract. With a gap that big, Montreal might actually end up trading Subban.
Gazzete writer: Subban hurting his 'brand' | 01/26/2013 10:32 AM
NewsThe Montreal Gazette's Pat Hickey says P.K. Subban is hurting his "brand" more than anything in his contract dispute.
ImpactThe restricted free agent has missed the team's first three games, and it doesn't help his cause that his team has gotten off to a 2-1 start. "He is playing into the hands of what I call the haters and the doubters - the people who believe Subban is a selfish and overrated player," Hickey wrote. "He answered those charges last season when he changed his playing style, concentrated on playing better defense and led the team in ice time and defence scoring. But his absence isn't going over well at a time when people are still recovering from the prolonged lockout over a new CBA. People, including those in the Canadiens organization, don't take kindly to another off-ice battle."

Louis Jean on Twitter
ImpactThe two sides will re-evaluate their positions over the weekend. It's believed Subban wants something in the range of Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn's recently inked five-year/$26.25 million deal, but so far there's been a philosophical divide. Meanwhile it looks like Subban will miss his fourth straight game on Sunday.

NewsNewport Sports Management Inc., P.K. Subban's representatives, and the Montreal Canadiens will meet face-to-face on Friday.

Subban: 'I want to be paid what I'm worth' | 01/24/2013 11:12 AM
NewsP.K. Subban's agent, Don Meehan, said Wednesday that he expects to speak with Montreal GM Marc Bergevin before the end of the week.
ImpactDespite rumors of offer sheets and trades, Meehan commented that their focus is trying to work something out with the Canadiens. "It's come down to this - I want to be paid what I'm worth," Subban told Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette earlier this week. He wants to stay in Montreal and help the team win, but for all the things he brings to the table he wants "to be fairly compensated." While he continues to wait for a new deal, he remains at home in Toronto where he is staying in shape.
PK Subban talks seem to have stalled | 01/17/2013 6:20 PM
NewsThere's "nothing new" on the P.K. Subban front, according to his agent.
Dave Stubbs on Twitter
ImpactSubban is a restricted free agent and it remains to be seen if he'll be signed by the start of the regular season. Odds are he will end up agreeing to terms at the 11th hour and we would still draft Subban as if he's going to play in the opener.
Agent: Habs, P.K. Subban 'not close' to deal | 01/15/2013 5:16 PM
NewsThe Montreal Canadiens and RFA P.K. Subban are "not close" to a deal, his agent told Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette via text message.
Dave Stubbs on Twitter
ImpactThis reeks of an agent trying to spin the public face of negotiations in favor of his client. Still, barring a last-minute change of heart, it appears the talks are likely to linger into the weekend, which is not at all what Habs fans wanted to hear. We still expect something to get done in the next week, but all we can do is wait out the process.
P.K. Subban contract talks 'cool off' | 01/12/2013 8:26 PM
NewsThe contract talks between P.K. Subban and the Canadiens have "cooled off," according to Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos.
Nick Kypreos on Twitter
ImpactThat means they're likely to linger into Sunday and that the defenseman could miss the first day of training camp, assuming the last piece of the CBA, the Memorandum of Understanding, gets signed soon. This isn't the news Habs fans want to hear at the start of the year, but you have to imagine the two sides will work something out within the next few days.
P.K. Subban's agent has nothing new to report | 01/12/2013 5:00 PM
NewsIf there's significant progress in P.K. Subban's contract talks, no one's sharing it.
ImpactThe restricted free agent doesn't have a ton of time to sign with the Montreal Canadiens, especially if the goal is to get acquainted via training camp. One must believe the Habs are anxious to sign him considering his huge role with the team, though.
Habs GM want so sign P.K. Subban before camp | 01/08/2013 12:49 PM
NewsMontreal GM Marc Bergevin wants to get P.K. Subban signed before the team begins training camp.
Impact"I haven't seen the new (collective bargaining agreement) and we can't get a contract done until it's ratified, but I have had preliminary discussions (with Subban's agent Don Meehan) and we want to get it done as soon as possible," Bergevin said. "My goal from Day One was to sign P.K." Subban began the lockout as a restricted free agent.
P.K. Subban is 'on the outside looking in' | 01/07/2013 1:45 PM
NewsThe signing of restricted free agent P.K. Subban will be at the top of Montreal's list now that the framework for a new CBA has been agreed upon.
ImpactAccording to Dave Stubbs of The Montreal Gazette, Subban is scheduled to meet with his agent, Don Meehan, Monday in Toronto and if doesn't get a deal by the start of training camp starts then he may have to face the possibility that his time in Montreal could be over. "It's been a very tough situation for me," Subban said. "I haven't been able to engage myself in a lot of the things that our team has been involved in (during the lockout). That's because as much as people may believe I'll be back this season with the Canadiens, it's still dependent on whether we can reach an agreement. Whether I'm positive about reaching an agreement or not, there's always a chance it may not get to that. So now I'm on the outside looking in, obviously waiting for an agreement to get done."
