NewsThe New York Islanders have signed defenseman T.J. Brennan to a one-year/one-way contract.

T.J. Brennan's the AHL defenseman of the year | 04/16/2014 4:08 PM
NewsT.J. Brennan has been selected as the AHL defenseman of the year.
ImpactBrennan had 24 goals, 69 points, and 111 penalty minutes in 73 AHL games this season. The 25-year-old defenseman has struggled to establish himself at the NHL level, but he has enough offensive upside to make him worth keeping an eye on.
Brennan returned to Marlies | 10/12/2013 1:03 PM
NewsT.J. Brennan has been returned to the Marlies of the AHL.
ImpactThe club decided to keep rookie forwards Josh Leivo and David Broll for the time being over Brennan, who had a hot start with the Marlies. Brennan will likely be back if the Buds' blueline is depleted due to injury.
Brennan joins Leafs after hot start in AHL | 10/09/2013 12:46 PM
NewsThe Toronto Maple Leafs have promoted T.J. Brennan.
ImpactBrennan has gotten off to a tremendous start with four goals and six points in two AHL games. We don't recommend picking him up over that in standard leagues, but he's worth keeping an eye on during this NHL stint.
Brennan hopes to land roster spot with Leafs | 08/14/2013 12:13 PM
NewsT.J. Brennan could see some action with the Leafs in 2013-14.
Impact"A surplus of defense is a good thing to have," he said Tuesday after a scrimmage with some of his new Toronto teammates. "But (management) are the ones who have to make the hard decisions. Something like that is out of my control. ...I've had a good summer so far and wanted to get here early and get to know the guys. So when camp comes, it's just 'go' time, I can be 100 percent focused and ready to move on." If Cody Franson remains unsigned going into the season then Brennan or Paul Ranger could be on Toronto's opening night roster.
Toronto inks T.J. Brennan to 1-year contract | 07/05/2013 4:44 PM
NewsT.J. Brennan has signed one-year, $600,000 with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

ImpactHe skated in 29 games between Buffalo and Florida last season. He was traded to Nashville last month for Bobby Butler. Brennan is a good puck-moving defenseman who has put up good numbers in the AHL, but he hasn't done much at the NHL level yet. He will probably be a depth blueliner on Toronto.
Preds acquire Brennan from Florida | 06/14/2013 3:14 PM
NewsThe Nashville Predators have acquired T.J. Brennan from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Bobby Butler.
Bob McKenzie on Twitter
ImpactBrennan had three goals and 10 points in 29 games in 2013 with the Panthers and the Buffalo Sabres. He might have a bit of fantasy value if the Predators give him a chance as a top-six forward. Brennan is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer after completing a one-year, two-way deal that was worth $550,000 at the NHL level.

NewsT.J. Brennan earned two assists in Florida's 3-2 shootout win over Tampa on Tuesday.
ImpactHe has four points in eight games with the Panthers since being acquired from Buffalo. Greg Rallo scored his first NHL goal in the contest and Tomas Kopecky had Florida's other regulation marker. Peter Muelleer was the only skater who scored in the shootout.

NewsT.J. Brennan will get back into Florida's lineup Thursday and he'll face his former Buffalo teammates.

Brennan makes positive first impression | 03/18/2013 9:44 AM
NewsT.J. Brennan made a good first impression with the Florida Panthers on Saturday.
ImpactThe Panthers got Brennan from the Buffalo Sabres on Friday for a fifth round pick. A day later the 23-year-old blueliner had a goal and a plus-one rating in 23:42 minutes of playing time in Florida's 4-3 loss to the New York Islanders. "He's still young in that development stage, but he's got some real upside and we're excited to get him into our group," Panthers coach Kevin Dineen said. "Obviously, we've been decimated by injuries in the first half, so the more depth we have, the better it is for us." Given how much ice time they gave Brennan in his Panthers debut, he's worth keeping an eye on.
T.J. Brennan scores in return from press box | 03/06/2013 10:36 AM
NewsT.J. Brennan netted his first goal of the season in Tuesday's loss to Carolina.

T.J. Brennan sits for fifth straight contest | 03/04/2013 11:27 AM
NewsT.J. Brennan was a healthy scratch for a fifth straight time Sunday night.
ImpactThe Sabres have a logjam on the back end, even with two blueliners injured, and Brennan hasn't enjoyed the type of offensive success in the NHL as he did in the AHL.
T.J. Brennan can't help dismal Buffalo PP | 02/20/2013 10:46 AM
NewsBuffalo dressed T.J. Brennan on Tuesday night and used him to try to shake up their disappointing power play.
ImpactHowever, the Sabres were unable to score on three opportunities in a 2-1 loss to Winnipeg. Buffalo has gone 2-for-37 with the man advantage over their last 10 games and they currently own the league's 29th ranked power play. Brennan produced 14 goals and 35 points in 36 games this year in AHL Rochester, but he has no points in six NHL appearances.
T.J. Brennan may sit out or be PP specialist | 02/09/2013 10:33 AM
NewsWith the expected return to the lineup by Andrej Sekera, T.J. Brennan could be the odd man out.
ImpactHe played against Montreal Thursday and received over 14 minutes of ice time but there is a real possibility he could sit in the press box for Saturday night's contest against the Islanders. It is also possible the Sabres could dress seven defensemen and use Brennan exclusively on the power play. If you have Brennan on your fantasy team it makes for a difficult call. He could be a zero or get a few points with the man advantage. Do you feel lucky?
T.J. Brennan won't play Saturday | 02/02/2013 1:14 PM
NewsT.J. Brennan will be a healthy scratch for Saturday afternoon's contest against the Canadiens.
Die by the Blade Twitter
ImpactNormally this wouldn't be news but it is important as it means that both Tyler Myers and Jordan Leopold will be in the Sabre lineup.
Brennan could draw in against Habs Saturday | 02/02/2013 9:50 AM
NewsSabre defenseman T.J. Brennan could draw in against Montreal Saturday afternoon.
ImpactHe could take the place of either Tyler Myers or Jordan Leopold as both have struggled mightily this season to date. "I've got one healthy defenseman [Brennan], and the option is to use him, to buy a little bit of time," Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff said. "We know they [Myers and Leopold] both can play. They struggled. It's no different that a lot of teams will have a guy struggling, and we've got to try to get them through it.There's different ways of getting through it. Sometimes if you rest them, let them watch a game, it helps them. Sometimes you can let them work their way."Brennan had a considerable amount of success in the AHL during the lockout and bears watching.
Brennan, Weber may play later this week | 01/22/2013 10:00 AM
NewsT.J. Brennan has served as a healthy scratch for Buffalo's first two games of 2013.
ImpactHe has to clear waivers to go back down to the minors, so the Sabres are keeping him around for now. Mike Weber is also waiting to make his season debut. The two of them could see action when the Sabres play three games in four nights to close out this week.
Brennan in the mix on Sabres' crowded D-corps | 01/15/2013 10:27 AM
NewsThe Sabres lost Joe Finley to the waiver wire on Monday, which could make them extra cautious about sending down offensive defenseman T.J. Brennan.
ImpactBrennan would also need to clear waivers to return to Rochester of the AHL, where he has generated 14 goals and 35 points in 36 games this year. He arrived at camp Sunday and joins a crowded Buffalo blueline. The Sabres may trade some of their defenders out of town rather than risk using the waiver wire and losing that player for nothing.
Sabres may have to keep T.J. Brennan | 01/07/2013 12:41 PM
NewsT.J. Brennan will probably stay with the Buffalo Sabres following training camp because he has to clear waivers to continue playing in the minors.
ImpactHe has been enjoying a strong year with Rochester, so he may not make it back down. Brennan has amassed 12 goals and 30 points in 33 games this year and he currently leads the Americans in scoring. The Sabres already have a crowded blueline, so the addition of Brennan would further complicate the mix.
