He sat out the first two games as a healthy scratch, but skated on the fourth line with Adam Hall and B.J. Crombeen against Carolina. It was Tyrell's first NHL game since he underwent surgery last spring to repair a torn ACL in his right knee.

If the NHL lockout cancels the remainder of the season then Tyrell has reportedly expressed an interest in returning to the Slovak Extraliga. He appeared in four games overseas, while missing some time with a groin injury, and ended up with three assists.
