NewsCanadiens Dustin Tokarski is expected to start on Thursday.
ImpactMontreal plays back-to-back days to start the season, and the team does not want Carey Price to play in consecutive games to begin the year. Tokarski played well in the Eastern Conference Finals last spring against the Rangers.
Price prasises Tokarski for work in playoffs | 06/01/2014 10:50 AM
NewsCarey Price was very impressed with the work of Dustin Tokarski in the playoffs.
Habs Inside Out
ImpactTokarski, who replaced the injured Price against the Rangers, was the Habs' best player in the five games he played. Of Tokarski's performance, Price had the following to say: "That's probably one of the hardest situations you could ever throw a guy into. And he really excelled. He showed why he's won at different levels." There is a very good chance that Tokarski will be Price's backup next season.
Dustin Tokarski solid as Habs get eliminated | 05/29/2014 11:20 PM
NewsMontreal goaltender Dustin Tokarski did all he could Thursday, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Rangers from scoring a 1-0 win in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals and eliminating the Canadiens from the postseason.
ImpactTokarski blocked 31 of 32 shots in a strong effort, but was ultimately let down by his tea mates. All told, he acquitted himself well in the playoffs after he was thrust into action in place of the injured Carey Price, sporting a 2.60 GAA and a .916 save percentage.
Dustin Tokarski and Habs force Game 6 in NYC | 05/27/2014 10:56 PM
NewsDustin Tokarski and the Canadiens emerged victorious in a wild 7-4 decision over the Rangers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals Tuesday night.
ImpactTokarski struggled during a crazy second period in which the Habs allowed three consecutive goals to blow a 4-1 advantage and ultimately allowed four goals on 27 shots to earn a victory. The series will shift back to Manattan for Game 6 Thursday.

The Bergen Record
ImpactCarey Price is making progress in his return from a knee injury, but he doesn't appear to be even close to playing. Tokarski has done a solid job in Price's absence, posting a 2.62 GAA and .917 save percentage in three contests.
G Dustin Tokarski so-so in OT loss to Rangers | 05/25/2014 11:40 PM
NewsGoaltender Dustin Tokarski, filling in for the injured Carey Price, was not exactly stellar in the Canadiens' 3-2 overtime loss to the Rangers in New York Sunday night.
ImpactWhile he made 26 saves, Tokarski probably should have been able to stop the game-winning goal scored by Martin St. Louis in the first overtime period. St. Louis got the puck in the right circle and had an open look at Tokarski, who has robbed St. Louis on several occasions in the series. This time, St. Louis ripped a shot inside the near post and over Tokarski's glove to win it. He might've also reacted better on the slapshot, breakaway goal scored by Derick Brassard. In any case, he wasn't the Tokarski who starred in the Canadiens' Game 3 overtime win. Tokarski's GAA remains impressive in the post-season. It's 1.84, and he has a .946 save percentage.
Game 3 hero Tokarski's home town mix up | 05/24/2014 10:32 AM
NewsDustin Tokarski, who was the Canadiens' star in their Game 3 comeback win over New York Thursday night, is listed as being born in the wrong city in all media guides.
ImpactTokarski, who stopped 35 of 37 shots in the Habs' 3-2 overtime win, is listed as coming from Humboldt Saskatchewan, a city of approximately 6,600 people. However, Tokarski is really from the very small town of Watson, which has 800 people and is approximately 25 miles outside of Humboldt. Tokarski's family ran a grain farm in Watson and his parents still live there. Talk about coming from humble beginings to the bright lights of New York City. It will be interesting to see how Tokarski fares in his second game in the Garden Sunday.
Dustin Tokarski shines as Habs steal Game 3 | 05/22/2014 11:17 PM
NewsDustin Tokarski was excellent in goal for Montreal Thursday night as he backstopped the Habs to a 3-2 overtime win over the New York Rangers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
ImpactTokarski was the primary reason for Montreal's victory on this night, as he held his teammates in the game despite the fact they were badly outplayed. The youngster turned away 35 of 37 shots to earn his first career postseason win and rewarded coach Michel Therrien's faith in him with a strong performance. Game 4 of the series will go on Saturday at Madison Square Garden.

Dustin Tokarski stumbles in 1st playoff start | 05/19/2014 11:12 PM
NewsDustin Tokarski stumbled in his first playoff start Monday, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Rangers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
ImpactCoach Michel Therrien made news earlier in the day when he announced that Tokarski would start over backup Peter Budaj, a controversial decision. It's hard to pin this loss on the him since he stopped 27 of 30 shots in the contest, but that may not stop the narrative from being formed. It's unclear whether he or Budaj will start Game 3 Thursday.

NewsDustin Tokarski will reportedly start against the New York Rangers on Monday.

ImpactTokarski had a 2.38 GAA and .919 save percentage in 41 AHL games this season. The 24-year-old only has 10 games worth of NHL experience, but with Carey Price injured, the Canadiens' only other alternative is Peter Budaj. Given that Budaj has a 5.13 GAA and .843 save percentage in seven career playoff contests, it's not surprising that Montreal is willing to gamble on their untested, but promising young goaltender.

NewsThe Montreal Canadiens recalled goalie Dustin Tokarski from the AHL on Sunday.
Dave Stubbs on Twitter
ImpactIt's unlikely he'll make much of an impact, as he's expected to back up Peter Budaj so the Habs can give Carey Price a breather with little on the line. Even so, keep an eye out for a potential start/relief appearance. He's been sharp in very limited NHL action this season.

Goalie up from minors, records shutout win | 03/16/2014 9:53 PM
NewsRookie goaltender Dustin Tokarski turned aside 29 shots to earn his first NHL shutout in the Montreal Canadiens' 2-0 win over the Sabres in Buffalo Sunday night.
ImpactTokarski was summoned from the Habs' AHL affiliate in Hamilton and filled in effectively for starter Carey Price, who didn't make the trip a day after stopping 30 shots in a 5-4 overtime victory against the Ottawa Senators. That was Price's first NHL start since Feb. 8. Coach Michel Therrien was wary of playing Price on consecutive nights after the goalie aggravated a lower-body injury during Canada's gold-medal run at the Sochi Olympics. With the win Sunday, the Canadiens vaulted into second place in the Atlantic Division by jumping ahead of Toronto and Tampa Bay. Tokarski improved to 2-0 this season and 3-3-1 in his NHL career.

NewsIn his first NHL game in two years, Dustin Tokarski made 39 saves in regulation and overtime and stopped four of six shootout attempts to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 4-3 win against the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center Wednesday night.
ImpactTokarski appeared in his first NHL game since March 19, 2012. The 24-year-old was mostly solid, but he was victimized by a random bounce that allowed Anaheim to tie it 2-2. The Habs will play again tonight so it seems like Peter Budaj or Carey Price will start if he recovers from his injury.

ImpactIt was his second perfect game of the season, as he made 22 saves. Tokarski has been a little inconsistent in the AHL with a 2.24 goals-against average and .907 save percentage, but he should battle for a role with the Lightning once the season starts.
