Cal Clutterbuck registered a goal in his first NHL playoff game in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime loss to Chicago.
Clutterbuck scored from defenseman Clayton Stoner early in the first period to give Minnesota a 1-0 lead, but the Wild were outlasted by the Blackhawks in the postseason opener of the series. Ryan Suter led all skaters in the contest with a whopping 41:08 of ice time. He posted a minus-1 rating and four blocks.

Forward Cal Clutterbuck didn't try to downplay the importance of the Minnesota Wild's 2-1 triumph over the Los Angeles Kings Tuesday night.
"This was probably the biggest game I've ever played in for this franchise," Clutterbuck said "We've got an opportunity to make the playoffs, and this was a huge, huge game for us." A loss to the Kings, a team running hot and starting to resemble the confident squad that cruised to a Hollywood parade last year, would have meant two must-wins this weekend preceded by two long, slow, excruciating off days for the Wild. Clutterbuck's goal in the first period Tuesday turned out to be the game winner. He was moved up to the second line despite having only three goals in 39 games.

The Wild built a 2-0 lead after the opening frame on goals by rookie Charlie Coyle and Clutterbuck and held on for a 2-1 victory. Zach Parise, Jonas Brodin, Tom Gilbert and Devin Setoguchi concluded the contest with an assist each.

Cal Clutterbuck is fine to play Wednesday after hurting his leg in Monday's win over Dallas.
He collided with the goal post in the first period and left the game, but did return later and contributed two third-period assists to help lift the Wild to a 7-4 win. "I couldn't walk very well, but I thought I'd throw on the skate and see how it went, and I could skate OK," Clutterbuck said Wednesday morning. He's expected to stay in the lineup.

"I'm making progress," said Clutterbuck, who could be ready for Saturday's game in Nashville. "I'm feeling pretty good right now. So I can definitely see (playing Saturday) as a possibility for sure. We still have three days. We'll take it day by day, see how I feel. But I'm pretty confident right now."

Cal Clutterbuck netted his first goal of the season in the Wild's 3-2 shootout win over the Blackhawks on Wednesday night.
Clutterbuck really doesn't have much fantasy value, but he does combine decent penalty minutes (103 last season) with 15-goal (full season) ability. Matt Cullen also potted his first of the season. The best part for the Wild is that their big-name forwards (Mikko Koivu, Zach Parise and Dany Heatley) were held off the score sheet and they still found a way to win. Prior to this game, those three combined for 11 of their 16 goals.

The Minnesota lineup of Cal Clutterbuck, Pierre-Marc Bouchard, Kyle Brodziak, Tom Gilbert and Clayton Stoner totally shut down the Stars top line.
The Stars top line of Jaromir Jagr, Derek Roy and Loui Eriksson combined for three goals and seven points in their win Saturday but Clutterbuck et al shut them down completely in a 1-0 win Sunday. It's great news for Wild fans who have a very good top-six forward group and should help them in their attempt to make the playoffs.
