|Assets:||Is sound at both ends of the ice and a solid face-off man. Can also play wing and be a decent playmaker. Will also kill penalties, if need be. Has decent size to boot.|
|Flaws:||Isn't a speed merchant, so he may be limited to bottom-six forward duties in the end at the highest level. Isn't a natural in the goal-scoring department, either.|
|Career Potential:||Versatile forward with a little upside.|

Stars claim Dustin Jeffrey off of waivers | 11/17/2013 1:12 PM
NewsThe Dallas Stars decided to grab Dustin Jeffrey off of waivers after the Pittsburgh Penguins placed him there.
ImpactWhatever value Jeffrey brings at the NHL level, it doesn't really convert to fantasy. He has just one assist in 10 games this season, managing a -2 rating and nine SOG. Perhaps he'll get more minutes in Dallas, though. To make room, they sent Aaron Rome back to the AHL.
Dustin Jeffrey not happy as a healthy scratch | 10/21/2013 9:30 AM
NewsDustin Jeffrey is not happy at being a healthy scratch.
ImpactJeffrey has sat out the last two games as the Penguins have converted defenseman Deryk Engelland to forward and have used him in Jeffrey's spot. "This is the position I've been in for three years," Jeffrey said. "I've gotten used to it. But obviously I'd prefer to be in the lineup every night, get into a groove of playing." He really does not have much in the way of fantasy value when he is in the lineup.
Dustin Jeffrey injured on Saturday | 10/07/2013 9:39 AM
NewsDustin Jeffrey was injured on Saturday when his face came into contact with the skate of teammate Chuck Kobasew.
ImpactJeffrey is a bottom-six forward who had three goals and six points in 24 games last season. He said that he did not lose any teeth in the incident but some were chipped. He'll be fine for the Penguins next game on Tuesday against Carolina as he practiced on Sunday. Jeffrey has little fantasy value.
Penguins, Dustin Jeffrey agree to 1-year deal | 07/18/2013 10:13 AM
NewsThe Pittsburgh Penguins and Dustin Jeffrey agreed to a one-year, $625,000 contract
ImpactJeffrey didn't play during the postseason but did notch three goals and six points in 24 games last season. He'll continue to be a depth forward for the Penguins next season.
D.Jeffrey plays well in return from press box | 04/23/2013 8:47 AM
NewsDustin Jeffrey notched a goal and an assist in Pittsburgh's 3-1 win over Ottawa Monday night.
ImpactIt was his first appearance since April 2 and he made the most of his 14:49 of ice time. "This was my opportunity," Jeffrey said. "I wanted to do something with it."
Dustin Jeffrey moves in as second-line center | 03/13/2013 8:37 AM
NewsDustin Jeffrey has been centering the second line, between James Neal and Beau Bennett, with Evgeni Malkin out of the lineup due to injury.
ImpactWhen Malkin missed four games with a concussion, Brandon Sutter moved into the second-line role, but this time around the Penguins decided to promote Jeffrey and keep their other combinations intact. "I feel like I've played well," Jeffrey said. "All the feedback from the coaching staff has been positive. I had a couple of good chances against the Islanders. I'm getting quality chances. You get more concerned when you're not getting those kinds of chances." He has just two goals and no assists, with 16 shots, in 14 games this season.
Jeffrey will get a turn with Malkin and Neal | 01/31/2013 12:52 PM
NewsDustin Jeffrey has been skating with Evgeni Malkin and James Neal at practice and it looks like he'll start there on Thursday night.
ImpactJeffrey has dressed in two games so far this year, while recording two shots and no points. Eric Tangradi and Tyler Kennedy didn't work out alongside Malkin and Neal, so it's hard to imagine that Jeffrey will either.
Jeffrey spends Sunday's game in press box | 01/21/2013 11:32 AM
NewsDustin Jeffrey was a healthy scratch on Sunday.
ImpactPenguins coach Dan Bylsma didn't sound like someone who made the decision because Jeffrey did anything wrong. "Dustin is a guy who can do a lot of different things," coach Dan Bylsma said. "He can play up [on a top line], he can play on the power play, he can play penalty-kill, he's a left-handed shot [faceoff] guy. He adds some skill, but he's also a guy who ... in the American Hockey League, was a shutdown-type of centerman. He can do a lot of different things." Jeffrey probably won't have to wait too long before his next game.
Jeffrey looking for opportunity with Pens | 01/09/2013 1:38 AM
NewsDustin Jeffrey will fight for a spot in Pittsburgh's lineup after overcoming a torn ACL that affected him for 18 months.
ImpactJeffrey played in Austria during the lockout and produced 23 points in 20 games. He was satisfied with his decision to play there. "It was a smart career choice," he said. "I needed to get my confidence back. That was the big thing for me. I was able to test my knee. The league isn`t what it is here, but to play in-game competition was huge for me." If he cracks the lineup, Jeffrey will likely fill a 3rd or 4th line winger spot, as the Pens' centre position is loaded with talent. He could emerge as a solid sleeper in deeper leagues.
