Tom Wandell has completed his AHL conditioning stint.
Wandell has four points in 11 AHL games this season. That stint helped him stay in game shape after spending weeks as a healthy scratch with the Dallas Stars.

Wandell hasn't played since Jan. 29, so this will prevent him from getting rusty. He has no points and a minus-two rating in seven games this season.

With Jamie Benn still unsigned, Tom Wandell is likely to play on the second line in the Stars' season opener.
"We're looking at it the same way we would if he was out of the lineup because of an injury," Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk said of Benn. "This opens up opportunities for other players, and they're going to try to seize them. I just talked to Tommy Wandell, and I haven't seen that kind of look in his eye since I've known him. He's excited about getting the chance to play with Ray Whitney and Michael Ryder." Wandell isn't a bad player to pick up for the weekend, but he isn't expected to have any fantasy value after Benn signs.

We're not reading too much into this just yet. It could be Glen Gulutzan messing around with some combinations during training camp, but it's something to keep an eye on, if only for how it affects Whitney and Ryder. Wandell had 15 points in 72 games last season with the Stars.
