NewsThe St. Louis Blues think that a left-handed defenseman like Carl Gunnarsson will be a good fit for them.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
ImpactGunnarsson figures to play on one of the Blues' top-two defensive pairings. The most likely scenario is that he'll play alongside Kevin Shattenkirk, but obviously that's subject to change. Unfortunately, Gunnarsson doesn't have the offensive upside necessary to make him a factor in standard fantasy leagues.

Carl Gunnarsson, Dion Phaneuf to stay intact | 12/15/2013 11:42 AM
NewsThe Toronto defense has been a source of instability all season but Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle will not break up the pairing of Carl Gunnarsson and Dion Phaneuf.
ImpactThis is the only defense pairing that has remained a constant for the Leafs from start to present. "I would say at this point we think that they're our go-to pair," Carlyle said. "Right now, I don't think (breaking up the two) is a possibility for us. . .But coaches change their minds." Searching for balance, Carlyle split Gunnarsson and Phaneuf for the first 28 games last season with Phaneuf playing alongside Korbinian Holzer and current Blackhawk Michael Kostka.
