NewsJared Boll had successful surgery to repair a sports hernia on Thursday.
ImpactHe'll need 4-6 weeks to recovery and is projected to be fine for training camp next fall. Boll played the final two weeks of the season with the injury.

ImpactBoll suffered the injury about a month ago but played through it as the Blue Jackets were in playoff contention until the last night of the season. He is expected to be healthy enough for training camp in September.

NewsJared Boll suffered a sports hernia injury a few weeks ago and could undergo surgery now that the Blue Jackets have been eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs.
ImpactNow we know what the lower body injury was. "It wasn't (fun playing through it)," Boll said. "But these games are so important. I wanted to play, and do everything I could." Boll picks up a lot of penalty minutes and chips in with the occasional point so he is worth selecting late in pools that reward penalty minutes.

ImpactBoll leads the NHL in fights this season with seven as he has been a mainstay of the Blue Jackets bottom-six forwards for the last five seasons. He managed seven goals a couple of seasons ago so he does chip in occasionally but his true fantasy value is in penalty minutes where he is second in the NHL this season with 61, trailing only Brandon Prust.

NewsJared Boll ended his time in Finland's second division late last month in anticipation of the end of the lockout.
Impact"I was hearing rumblings about things maybe starting so I wanted to come back," he said. He averaged about 25 minutes of ice time, while posting three points and 31 penalty minutes in five games with TuTo. "It definitely helped," Boll said. "I wanted to be playing and be in game shape as soon as possible. It was real beneficial and I think guys that are over there playing are going to be ready to go as soon as they get back."
