ImpactMacLean was responding to criticisms made about Ryan during CBC's Hockey Night in Canada. "I'm fine with his skating," said MacLean. "I don't think the picture of him has a dimension of speed, no, that's not his dimension. But he skates more than fine to play in the NHL." Ryan has an assist in two games with Ottawa. He's expected to have a big season after being traded from an Anaheim Ducks team that didn't lean on him with the man advantage.

ImpactMacLean has been happy with the line of Ryan, Jason Spezza, and Milan Michalek for the most part, but as MacLean put it, "At some point in time, somebody has to shoot the puck." Ryan is a great bet to score over 30 goals in 2013-14.
Bobby Ryan set to face Leafs in home debut | 09/19/2013 10:47 AM
NewsBobby Ryan will make his home debut in Thursday's exhibition tilt against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
ImpactIt will be his first taste of the Battle of Ontario even though it's just a preseason edition. Ryan will also square off against former Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle. "It wasn't a bad relationship, it just wasn't a great one," he said of his time with Carlyle. "That's all it was. He was a tough coach and I still really do owe him quite a bit for becoming the player I am. That isn't lost on me one bit." Coach Paul MacLean has liked what he's seen so far from Ryan on the club's top line, but he did think they passed the puck around too much in Sunday's match against Winnipeg.
Senators' Bobby Ryan will play on top line | 09/10/2013 8:05 PM
NewsThe Ottawa Senators announced Tuesday that Bobby Ryan will start on the top line with Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek.
ImpactCoach Paul MacLean told reporters he would like to see if the trio could develop chemistry as a group. Ryan scored 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 46 games with the Anaheim Ducks last year, but his fantasy value should increase playing on the Sens' top line. Spezza and Michalek both missed significant time to injuries last year, but Spezza (who notched 84 points in 2011-12), Michalek (60 points in 2011-12) and Ryan should make an elite offensive trio in 2014.
Bobby Ryan had digestive issue last year | 09/09/2013 2:43 PM
NewsNBC's Pierre McGuire told radio station Team 1200 in Ottawa that Bobby Ryan played through an illness last season.
Impact"I don't know if Bobby wants this out there, but I'm going to put it out there anyway in the interest of proper information dissemination - Bobby Ryan was sick most of last year," McGuire said. "He had a really tough time with an illness that they eventually traced, believed it or not, to a trip he took over to the far east. It was something with his digestive system, and it was a real problem for him. He's healthy now, he's 100 percent and I know he's really excited about being [in Ottawa]." McGuire is expecting big things from Ryan this season and we are too.
Coach won't commit to Bobby Ryan's center | 09/02/2013 12:28 PM
NewsOttawa coach Paul MacLean wouldn't commit to using Bobby Ryan alongside Jason Spezza.
Impact"The chemistry he gets, is it going to be with Jason Spezza or Kyle Turris or Mika (Zibanejad), whoever he gets the best chemistry with is who we're going to play him with," MacLean said. "But I think having someone with that ability is certainly going to help our team's confidence as far as it comes to scoring goals." Senators GM Bryan Murray wants to see Ryan play with Spezza and we expect them to start out the regular season together too. Ryan will get a great opportunity to shine in Ottawa this season.
Sens GM eager to see Ryan-Spezza combination | 08/20/2013 6:58 PM
NewsThe pairing of Bobby Ryan and Jason Spezza has Ottawa GM Bryan Murray very excited for the 2013-14 season.
Impact"There's no question Bobby Ryan's a goal-scorer," Murray said. "He's got good hands, a good head for the game, he understands how to play. If you ask Dany Heatley, I've heard him say that Jason Spezza was the reason he got 50 goals a couple of years in a row, and I think Bobby has the same type of thing in regards to his ability to finish. The two of them together should be real dynamite. And if Michalek plays there with his speed and work ethic, I think the threesome should be really good." The trio of Ryan, Spezza and Michalek will give the Senators a major boost in production this year after the team struggled to find offense during the lockout-shortened campaign.
Sens discussed getting Ryan and keeping Alfie | 08/14/2013 2:53 PM
NewsOttawa GM Bryan Murray believes the Senators could have found a way to add Bobby Ryan and re-sign Daniel Alfredsson even though Senators owner Eugene Melnyk said that the team could only afford to do one or the other.
Impact"We do have an in-house budget that we're trying to stay very close to, so I think [Melnyk] was just a little harder on himself in that regard in terms of what we could do and couldn't do," Murray said. "I'm not saying if Alfie stayed that we would have absolutely gone ahead and made the Bobby Ryan trade, but we had certainly talked about that scenario happening as well." Alfredsson joined the Detroit Red Wings on a one-year/$5.5 million contract, while Ryan has two seasons left on a deal that pays him $5.5625 million per year at a $5.1 million salary cap hit.
Ryan adjusts to increased media attention | 07/31/2013 9:54 AM
NewsBobby Ryan is getting used to the increased media attention he's received since being traded from the Anaheim Ducks to Ottawa Senators.
ImpactRyan recently attended a media event at Bell Sensplex where there were enough reporters and cameramen to fill an entire bench. "I told somebody up there that the only time we see more than five or six reporters in the room in Anaheim is if we're playing [Los Angeles] or a Canadian-based team, so this is a much different scale than I have seen before," Ryan said. "I wasn't quite prepared for it, but that's why I say it was an eye-opener and it was one of those experiences I won't ever forget." Ryan thinks he's done roughly 40-50 interviews since he was traded on July 5. Once the season gets underway, he's expected to play alongside Jason Spezza.
Bobby Ryan happy to be with Senators | 07/17/2013 11:27 PM
NewsBobby Ryan is happy to be a part of a passionate hockey market.
The Globe and Mail
Impact"It's a completely different culture from what it's been like the past six years," Ryan said. "(Being in Ottawa) is a completely different way of viewing hockey. I can't wait to be a part of it." Ryan has spent his entire NHL career with the Anaheim Ducks, but after years of speculation, they finally traded him this summer. Ryan's addition helped blunt the impact of Daniel Alfredsson's surprise departure, but Ryan naturally doesn't see himself as a replacement for Alfredsson.
Bobby Ryan excited to play with Sens | 07/06/2013 11:04 AM
NewsBobby Ryan is excited to play with the Senators.
ImpactHe was part of a blockbuster deal that sent Stefan Noesen, Jakob Silfverberg and a first-rounder to the Ducks. "I was surprised," he said. "I was on high alert at the draft (last weekend), because I thought if anything would happen, it would be there. But when it didn't, I thought maybe we would be going into another season. For it to happen this way, I couldn't be happier. It's like a re-start, not having to deal with (trade rumours) day in and day out." Ryan had 11 goals and 19 assists last season, and he's been a 30-goal scorer four times in his career.
Ottawa acquires Bobby Ryan from Ducks | 07/05/2013 3:41 PM
NewsBobby Ryan has finally been traded by the Anaheim Ducks.
ImpactHe has shipped to Ottawa in exchange for Jakob Silfverberg, prospect Stefan Noesen and a 2014 first-round pick . Ryan registered 11 goals and 30 points in 46 games with Anaheim last season. He should fit in well as a member of Ottawa's top-six forward group and will probably play alongside Jason Spezza next year.
Teams very interested in getting Bobby Ryan | 06/28/2013 10:05 AM
NewsAcquiring Bobby Ryan is high on a lot of teams priority lists.
ImpactIt's not hard to see why. Ryan is 26 and has surpassed the 30 goal mark in four campaigns. That being said, Ryan still has two seasons remaining on his contract, so the Ducks aren't likely to trade him unless they get blown away by an offer. They reportedly want a top pick and either a high-end prospect or blueliner in any potential deal.
Rumor: Flyers back looking at Bobby Ryan | 06/18/2013 8:09 PM
NewsAccording to two NHL sources not associated with the Flyers, CSNPhilly.com is hearing that Anaheim is listening to offers for Bobby Ryan and Philadelphia is interested.
ImpactOne source said that there's still "a lot to be worked out," but one scenario could see Braydon Coburn and the 11th overall pick in the 2013 draft going to Anaheim for Ryan. It's not uncommon for the Flyers to be mentioned in several trade rumors, but this off-season could be busy for them since they failed to make the playoffs and they have a difficult cap situation.
Bobby Ryan: Game 5 is 'huge' | 05/08/2013 8:45 AM
NewsThe Anaheim Ducks are looking at Game 5 on Wednesday as a critical contest.
Orange County Register
Impact"It's huge," Bobby Ryan said. "It's more pivotal for the home team because if you lose, you give them a chance to close it out at home, as Nashville did. It's tough to win on the road in the playoffs. It's not going to make or break the series but it's going to be a huge tone-setter the rest of the way." Ryan was kept off the scoresheet in Anaheim's 3-2 loss on Monday, but he's certainly a potential game changer.
Bobby Ryan: Confidence level high among Ducks | 05/06/2013 6:27 AM
NewsBobby Ryan said that the confidence level of the Anaheim Ducks is high.
Orange County Register
ImpactAnd why shouldn't it be as the Ducks have a two games to one lead over the Red Wings and took back home ice advantage Saturday in a 4-0 win in Detroit. "The morale is high," Ryan said. "The confidence is high. It certainly helps when you come out of a game like that in a building that we typically don't do very well in, and you come out and make a statement like we tried to make." Ryan is off to a good start in the playoffs with a goal and three points in three games.

NewsBobby Ryan (illness) will not return on Thursday.

Bobby Ryan out of action with an illness | 04/23/2013 5:48 AM
NewsBobby Ryan was a late scratch on Monday night because of an illness.
ImpactIt was the first game of the season that Ryan has missed. He has slumped once again this season as he has 10 goals and 29 points in 45 games, the first time in five seasons that he will not hit the 30 goal mark. It was not expected that he would do so this season because of the shortened schedule but he was not on pace to get 20, never mind 30. Look for a bounce back season in 2013-14 as Ryan is only 26 years of age.

Bobby Ryan clicking on second line | 02/10/2013 11:55 AM
NewsBobby Ryan and Teemu Selanne enjoyed a fantastic game on Saturday against the Blues.
Orange County Register
ImpactRyan registered two goals and two assists playing alongside ageless wonders Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu and he has now racked up 11 points in as many games for the season. The Ducks second line was especially dominant in Saturday's contest, as the Blues top defensive line was focused on stopping the Ryan Getzlaf-Corey Perry unit, which they did successfully. "Teemu and I just haven't shot the puck much," Ryan said. "We'd have games where we floated around and we've made plays and then never got a shot off. Tonight, our goal was just to get the puck to the net. When you start doing that, I think things open up and that's kind of what happened."
Bobby Ryan says Ducks must reduce penalties | 01/26/2013 11:11 AM
