Scouting Report

Assets:	Is very mobile and a decent puck-moving defenseman that can put up points at lower levels. Limits the mistakes. Also owns decent size at 6-1, 201 pounds.
Flaws:	Doesn't play an overly physical game and isn't talented enough to be a major factor on the power play in the NHL. Must find his own niche at the highest level.
Career Potential:	Mobile depth defenseman.

The Penguins made the move in order to activate fellow defensemen Kris Letang and Matt Niskanen from injured reserve. Reese skated in three games with Pittsburgh during his NHL callup. He finished his big-league stint with one shot and four blocks.

Impact

The Penguins traded defenseman Ben Lovejoy to Anaheim on Wednesday night, so Reese will join the team as a depth player. He played in 28 games for the New York Islanders last season and will no doubt be eagerly waiting to make his debut for his hometown team in Pittsburgh.
