|Assets:||Can play all three forward positions and is plenty versatile. Solid defensively, he plays an energy game and can also display physicality, despite modest size. Isn't afraid of mixing it up in the corners and is good on face-offs.|
|Flaws:||Lacks the strength required to win more physical battles all over the ice, especially against big NHL defenders. Needs to add more offensive consistency. Overall, he isn't a huge scoring threat at the highest level.|
|Career Potential:||Versatile energy forward with defensive ability.|

Brad Richardson is Kings' loss, Canucks' gain | 11/09/2013 11:39 AM
NewsBrad Richardson has been a major reason for the Vancouver Canucks' early-season success, which makes Los Angeles Kings coach Darryl Sutter a bit sick.
ImpactSutter lauded theCanucks on how they've thrived under coach John Tortorella, but saved his biggest plaudits for Richardson because he never wanted to lose the versatile forward to unrestricted free agency last summer. When the Kings acquired Jeff Carter in February, 2012, it forced Richardson to play more wing than the middle and he became interchangeable. "The hardest thing for me to do was not play Richardson," Sutter said. "We had to move him to wing and it had nothing to do with Brad because I think the world of him. He played a lot of big games for us and the reason we did well the last two years was because of role players. And because of the salary cap, we couldn't keep him." Signed to a two-year, $2.3 million contract in free agency, Richardson has been a bargain and a boon to the second-ranked penalty kill that has helped the Canucks fashion a league-leading 7-2-2 road record and 11-5-2 mark overall. He has two shorthanded goals and five altogether.

ImpactIt's a far cry from last season when Richardson won only 48.2 percent of faceoffs while playing for the Los Angeles Kings. He has little, if any, fantasy value.
Brad Richardson centers third line at camp | 09/14/2013 5:54 PM
NewsBrad Richardson is projected to play between Chris Higgins and Jannik Hansen.
ImpactCoach John Tortorella may open the regular season with that combination as his third line. Richardson says it's still too early to tell what will happen though. "You don't want to read too much into it. But it was a fun day," he said. "You want to develop chemistry early. It's better to do it now than trying to figure it out during the season."
Brad Richardson could be 3rd line center | 07/06/2013 9:00 AM
NewsThe Vancouver Canucks are expected to give newly-acquired Brad Richardson every opportunity to be the team's third line center.
ImpactAlthough he had difficult staying in the lineup for the Kings last season the Canucks believe they have uncovered an underrated commodity. "This is a guy we wanted for some time," GM Mike Gillis said. "It still leaves us with a spot open for one of the young guys to come in and compete." Richardson acknowledged the opportunity for a key role is what attracted him to Vancouver. "Getting there and sitting down with them and seeing that role could be the third-line centre. I thought that was going to be a great fit for me." His value in fantasy leagues is likely nil.

Brad Richardson replaces Jarret Stoll | 05/16/2013 10:47 PM
NewsBrad Richardson has drawn into the Kings lineup in place of the injured Jarret Stoll.
ImpactRichardson played in the first game of the playoffs against the Blues but had been a healthy scratch in the last six playoff games before tonight. He had only one goal and six points in 16 games this season so do not expect a lot of scoring when he does get into the Kings lineup.

NewsBrad Richardson has spent the Kings' last six games in the press box.
ImpactThat being said, Richardson might be inserted into the lineup on Thursday due to the injury to Jarret Stoll. "He's an energy guy for us," Dustin Brown said of Richardson. "He's not the biggest guy, but he always provides a spark for our lineup. He's shown he's a very versatile guy in the fact that he can play pretty much anywhere in our lineup and be effective. Part of this time of the year is finding depth guys that can step up at the right times. If he gets the opportunity, he needs to be ready to go."
