NewsJohnny Boychuk had a tough game in Thursday's semifinals series opener against the New York Rangers.
ImpactHe was checked from behind by Taylor Pyatt in the second period and needed to go the dressing room for a bit after going headfirst into the glass. Boychuk also sent himself into the boards awkwardly while looking to deliver a big hit and appeared to be in pain on the bench, but he stayed in the game after flexing out his shoulder. He ended up with 26:55 of ice time and a minus-2 rating in Game 1's 3-2 victory to go with his six hits, four blocks and five shots.

Impact"That was unbelievable, Boychuk said after his team came back from three down to defeat the Leafs. "That's one thing you're going to remember probably for the rest of your life. It was such a comeback that everybody probably thought that we were done and showed what kind of character there is in this dressing. Never say die." ImpactHe also had seven hits during his 23:18 of ice time. "Well, right now I'm not feeling that great but come (Friday) I'll feel a lot better," Boychuk said after the game. "You always step your game up in the playoffs and you have to or else you're going to be sitting on the bench, up in the stands or going home. You have to bring your 'A' game. You have to be determined to do whatever it takes to win." He had a slight limp but it's not expected to keep him out of the lineup for Game 5 on Friday night.

NewsThe suspension handed to Boston defenseman Andrew Ference forced the Bruins to put together some different defense pairings for Game Two of their opening round playoff series against Toronto.
ImpactJohnny Boychuk found himself paired with Dennis Seidenberg for the game instead of his usual partner, Ference, but the blueliners weren't willing to chalk up their struggles to unfamiliarity "Not really because we've played with each other throughout the whole year," Boychuk said. "We had different partners as the year went on. We do have chemistry with each other no matter who you're playing with. You've just got to talk a lot, talk loud and be the eyes for your partner when he's going back to the puck." Look for the Bruins to be back to normal when Ference returns for Game Three.

ImpactHe got a day of rest with the Bruins playing Adam McQuaid, who returned from an injury, and Wade Redden in the lineup instead. Boychuk is expected to play regularly once the postseason begins even though the Bruins are still tinkering with who to play on their bottom pairing.

ImpactIt looks like there is a pretty good chance he will play. Bruin coach Claude Julien indicated that Boychuk's availability will be determined at game time. Play it safe and wait until Sunday when the Bruins face the Sabres before activating him.

NewsThe Bruins aren't concerned with the potential blizzard ruining their plans for this weekend.
ImpactThey are supposed to host the Lightning at 1 p.m. Saturday, then fly to New York to play the Sabres for Saturday night. "It's hockey weather," said Johnny Boychuk. "With our schedule the way it is this year, they're going to have to play it, I would think. Getting to the rink, most of us live right around there, so it's not too bad for the game. Hopefully, we can get out to Buffalo after our game, but we'll worry about that after the game." For those in leagues with daily lineup changes, keep an eye on Rotoworld for the status of this game.
