Joey MacDonald replaced Kiprusoff in that game and he replaced him Monday night, as well. MacDonald allowed a goal on 14 Edmonton shots. For Kiprusoff, a 36-year-old veteran with several all-star appearances under his belt, this is the worst period of his NHL career.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly gotten permission to talk to Miikka Kiprusoff.
Kiprusoff doesn't have a no trade clause, but there's been reports that he'd refuse to play if Calgary trades him. With that in mind, the Maple Leafs probably want to know where he stands on the matter and, if possible, warm him to the idea of playing in Toronto. As successful a career as Kiprusoff has had, frankly James Reimer has been the better goaltender this season and could use the playoff experience, so if the Leafs are getting Kiprusoff to serve as the starter, then it's a loss for Toronto regardless of what they actually give Calgary. That being said, if Kiprusoff is brought on to serve primarily as a mentor for Reimer and a fallback option should Reimer falter, then it would be a solid addition to the team. It's worth noting that Kiprusoff is signed through 2013-14 with an average annual cap hit of $5,833,333, so he wouldn't merely be a rental.

Miikka Kiprusoff may be a little down in the dumps and it showed on the ice Friday night.
He may be a little depressed now that his buddy Jarome Iginla has been dealt away. Kipper may also be feeling the pressure associated with being on the trading block. Kiprusoff is always a critical player for the Flames, although it unfortunately won't be that way for much longer. He turned 36 in October and only has two seasons left on his contract. We don't expect Kiprusoff show signs of a decline this season, but at his age it's hard to see him playing for much more than a few more years.

Kiprusoff had a 2.35 GAA and .921 save percentage in 70 games last season. He's 36 years old going into the shortened campaign, but he shouldn't suffer a significant decline.

The Calgary Flames aren't generally expected to do much during the upcoming shortened season and Fantasy players may want to think twice before selecting veteran goaltender Miika Kiprusoff.
At 36, Kiprusoff didn't do all that much to keep sharp during the lockout. Calgary Herald hockey writer Vicki Hall said Kiprusoff looked winded during a workout this week. She also asked this: How many games does Kiprusoff play this season? Or, better put, how many nights off does he need to remain upright with either Henrik Karlsson or Leland Irving waiting in the wings to fill in? We wonder whether Kiprusoff may be rusty after not playing elsewhere during the lockout. Why didn't he play? As a part-owner of Turku TPS of the Finnish Elite League, Kiprusoff clearly had a place to go. Or did he? "My team didn't want to sign me," he said. "They have good goalies there. We have (Antero) Niittymaki, who used to play in Philly. They didn't want me."
