ImpactZidlicky will start the year playing the point on the Devils power play. Eventually, we expect youngster Eric Gelinas to take that role sometime this year, but Zidlicky should produce on the power play and put up solid plus/minus numbers with D-partner Bryce Salvador.

ImpactZidlicky will actually receive a base salary of $3 million based on his recently signed deal with New Jersey. However, he can earn an additional $1 million by playing in at least 25 games. Barring a major injury, Zidlicky should have no trouble fulfilling the obligations of that bonus.

ImpactThat's pretty good value for New Jersey, considering he had 12 goals and 42 points in 81 games in 2013-14. He'll turn 38 in February, so obviously his age is a factor, but he should still be one of the more productive offensive defensemen next season.
