Scouting Report

Assets:	Will take on all combatants and always protects his teammates. Is a non-stop energy guy shift after shift and hits all that moves.
Flaws:	Doesn't show a lot of discipline, which often leads to bad penalties and the odd suspension. Can at times go through a lot of injuries due to his playing style.
Career Potential:	Veteran part-time enforcer.

Darcy Hordichuk has yet to pick up a penalty in six AHL games.

Impact

Hordichuk was sent to the minors as the Oilers did not see a need for an enforcer despite having some young stars on the team like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Nail Yakupov. Apparently no one in the AHL wants to tangle with Hordichuk at this time and unless some young gun wants to try and make a reputation for himself, do not expect to see Hordichuk in too many fights in the AHL.

Oilers head coach Ralph Krueger approached Hordichuk and told him that they see him playing in a role beyond protecting their young, skill players. "They wanted me to work on my quickness and speed and my (conditioning), too," Hordichuk said. "I really took these last six months seriously and maybe more than ever worked on my game." Unfortunately, Hordichuk still probably won't get much playing time and that will severely limit his fantasy value. Don't draft him in standard leagues.
