Still, Gaborik pointed out that he's obviously been through cold streaks before and he's not about to panic over this one.

NewsMarian Gaborik is looking to give more to the struggling Blue Jackets.
ImpactColumbus is 5-9-0 this season and while that's not Gaborik's fault, they do need him to be a leader. "Obviously everybody can do better," Gaborik said. "I can do better on and off the ice. We're a desperate team right now. I need to bring more, and I will. I'm looking forward to this challenge with this team right now. We need guys stepping up, including myself. ImpactIt was thought that the two couldn't get along but Gaborik put down those thoughts Saturday. "Nothing really happened between me and him, if that's what you're asking," Gaborik said. "I don't really have an explanation of why the production was down. Last year was a weird one with the lockout affecting me, affecting all of us. Last year wasn't good and I'm glad it's over. I'm just trying to turn the page and look at this as a new year and look forward to games here. He has his style. He's done this for a number of years as a coach, and that's what his style is. We went to the conference final one year. Our goal was to go farther, but we didn't get there. Last year just wasn't good for anyone. I never asked for a trade. I had to agree to go, but I never asked. They came to me and said they had a deal on the table, and I did my homework and considered it and I decided to go to Columbus, and I'm fine with that now." NewsMarian Gaborik is likely to start Saturday night's game against the Canadiens on the Rangers' fourth line.
The Bergen Record
ImpactHe has struggled scoring only one goal in his last 11 games and it looks as if New York coach John Tortorella has had enough of Gaborik's disinterested play. Gaborik practised Friday on a line with Taylor Pyatt and Kris Newbury. Matts Zuccarello will take his place alongside Brad Richards and Chris Kreider. Gaborik seems to acknowledge his shoddy play and the need to pick up his game. "I have to be better," said Gaborik. "I have to get out of this, just get going somehow. Gaborik, Rangers growing further apart? | 03/14/2013 11:09 AM
NewsMarian Gaborik's days with the New York Rangers may be numbered, according to Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record.
The Bergen Record
ImpactHe may not be dealt until the season is over or until after the final year of his contract expires following the 2013-14 campaign, but the Rangers are rumored to be gauging interest around the league. Coach John Tortorella dropped Gaborik to the third line to start the third period Tuesday night. The Rangers winger didn't make a big deal out of the decision, but his issues with consistency have frustrated the Blueshirts bench boss and fantasy owners alike. He has one goal in his last 12 games and eight over 25 on the year, with five of his markers coming in two outings. Gaborik also has a minus-3 rating and he doesn't fit the mold of the grinding style that Tortorella likes to see. He was great last season so it's reasonable to believe that he's just suffering from an off year in a lockout-shortened campaign. However, there is some truth to the idea that Gaborik and the Rangers may be better off taking different directions.

Hopefully, they'll come in bunches right now."

Coach John Tortorella stacked the top line (Gaborik, Brad Richards, Rick Nash) a few games ago and the trio has been, as expected, nearly impossible to contain. New York was down 2-0, and Richards, who also had an assist, began the scoring in the second period. Nash had two helpers and a game-high eight shots on goal. All of them finished with a plus-four rating.

Gaborik and Nash also had a game-high six shots on goal. New York Post
Impact"Torts [coach John Tortorella] told me that's where he'd like to see me, so I'm going to prepare and practice at left wing," said Gaborik, who has played the right side for the vast majority of his career. "There's definitely going to be an adjustment, especially in our own zone and with wall play, so I'll work on that whenever I get the chance." He shoots left-handed and has played left wing for Slovakia at the Olympics. "I like shooting from the left side," Gaborik said. "I feel very comfortable with my shot from [the left wing circle], so that could be an advantage." He may start the year with Derek Stepan and Ryan Callahan as his linemates, but he should see shifts with Rick Nash and Brad Richards as well throughout the course of the campaign.
