Taylor Pyatt a healthy scratch Sunday | 03/24/2014 8:12 AM
NewsTaylor Pyatt was a healthy scratch on Sunday as the Penguins went with seven defensemen and only 11 forwards.
ImpactDeryk Engelland was the seventh blueliner and he is also capable of playing up front as the Penguins have used him as a fourth line winger on occasion. Pyatt has only two goals in 24 games this season so fantasy-wise it is not important that he missed Sunday's game.

NewsTaylor Pyatt is enjoying his time with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
ImpactPyatt was claimed off waivers from the Rangers on January 2 and is finding out how good it is to play with the Penguins during their current road trip. "I think this trip has been a great thing for me," Pyatt said. "It's tough when you go to a new team, but honestly the guys here have been so great. Just getting to know some of the guys, going out to dinner and spending some time together on the road, has been a great thing. And the really nice thing is that everyone is so nice to you when you come here. A guy like Sid, who is such of a star, doesn't act like one. He's just one of the guys and treated me so well from the first day I came here." Coach Dan Bylsma said that Pyatt will get an opportunity to be a bottom six forward so his fantasy value is negligible.

"After a strong training camp, he was given a lot of opportunities, whether it be on one of the top two lines, third, fourth, and never really after training camp got his game going. Right now, he's on the outside looking in, and I'm not quite sure where all that's gonna go." It obviously didn't help matters that Pyatt missed some time this season due to a concussion.

There is no timetable regarding a return to the ice for Pyatt, who has been sidelined for the last four games, including Sunday's 1-0 loss to the Kings. New York Daily News

"If you want to go far, you need a deep group, guys who accept their roles and work hard," Brian Boyle said. "We lost guys I have a lot of respect for, but they're gone. The guys we have now, they've gone far in the playoffs already. Pyatt went as far as we went last year (with Phoenix). Halpern is so competitive, even in these informal skates. We all want to be on the first line, but these are guys who work and do whatever the team needs them to do. And that's what you want."
