|Assets:||Has a good combination of passing kills and hockey sense from the point. Is a good-sized defender with sound mobility. Blocks shots with aplomb. Is savvy.|
|Flaws:||Doesn't always play with optimum intensity. Should make better use of his 6-1, 212-pound frame, since he is at times a little too soft, but he rarely does.|

Michal Rozsival picks up first playoff point | 06/09/2013 6:36 AM
NewsMichal Rozsival picked up his first point in the playoffs as he set up Duncan Keith's first period goal Saturday.
ImpactRozsival has one assist in 17 post-season playoff games and is plus-six after a 12 assist regular season with a plus-18 rating. Rozsival played 23:17 minutes in the double-overtime win Saturday after playing 25:28 minutes in Game 4 as he took over a bulk of the playing time of the suspended Duncan Keith. He averaged 14:34 minutes in the first three games of the Western Conference Final and should play as many minutes in the Cup Final barring injuries and overtime.
Michal Rozsival quietly strong in postseason | 06/08/2013 10:29 AM
NewsFlashy he isn't, but defenseman Michal Rozsival quietly has been a key to the Chicago Blackhawks' success in the postseason.
ImpactRozsival is a plus-5 in the postseason for the Hawks, who lead Los Angeles 3-1 in the Western Conference final and would go on to meet the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup championship series with a win over the Kings today. Rozsival's playing time increased in Game 4 because of the suspension to top Chicago d-man Duncan Keith and he did well. "He's been tremendous the whole year," said Chicago d-man Johnny Oduya, who was paired with Rozsival in Game 4. "We have good depth, a lot of guys who can play those minutes. And he's a skill guy who's smart with the puck and makes plays. He's obviously a veteran; he's been around for some time and just showed (Thursday), when you give him that opportunity, he steps up and he played a great game."
Rozsival's minutes skyrocket minus Keith | 06/07/2013 8:43 AM
NewsMichal Rozsival logged 25:28 minutes in Chicago's 3-2 victory in Game 4.
ImpactThat represents a roughly 10 minute increase in playing time compared to Game 3. The cause was obviously Duncan Keith's one-game suspension, which forced the rest of Chicago's blueliners to step up. "We're not about individuals. The whole team has been pulling on the same rope all season," Rozsival. "It's great to see all the guys contributing, even if we're missing a guy like Duncs. But it's important to have him back." Keith is eligible to return for Game 5.
Michal Rozsival surprised Kings pulled Quick | 06/03/2013 9:16 AM
NewsMichal Rozsival said he was surprised when the Los Angeles Kings pulled Jonathan Quick in the second period of Sunday's Game 2 win.
ImpactKings coach Darryl Sutter replaced Quick with Jonathan Bernier after Michal Handzus scored midway through the second period to make it 4-0 for Chicago. "It was surprising to me they pulled him. But we did a good job," Rozsival said. "We scored early on him, we got one on the power play, we kind of kept him in the crease and it's always nice to see when you can force a goalie out of the net with the way you play. But I'm pretty sure he'll be back. He's one of the best goalies."

Michal Rozsival has four assists in last five | 04/09/2013 7:32 AM
NewsMichal Rozsival has four assists in his last five games.
ImpactRozsival is having a surprisingly good fantasy season when he is in the lineup as he has 11 assists in 22 games with a plus-17 rating, stats he hasn't seen fantasy-wise since the 2006-07 season. He may be worth activating in deeper pools if you do not have the need for goals at this stage of the season.
Michal Rozsival gets shootout winner | 04/02/2013 9:14 AM
NewsMichal Rozsival doesn't have a goal in regulation time this season, but he netted the game-winner in Monday's shootout against Nashville.
Impact"Everyone was saying, `Put him in, put him in,' the last few games," Patrick Kane said. "He's one of those guys in practice who seems to score every time on the move he pulled out there." This was Rozsival's fifth career shootout attempt and first shootout goal. Maybe his success on Monday will motivate him to score his first regulation goal in over a year.

Hawks high on aging blueliner Michal Rozsival | 03/23/2013 11:17 AM
NewsHe is 34, in his 12th NHL season, yet the Chicago Blackhawks feel they hit the jackpot when they signed Michal Rozsival as a free agent before this season.
ImpactRozsival has seven assists in only 16 games, has a whopping plus-14 rating - only Jonathan Toews, at plus-17, is higher with the Hawks - and has formed a nice third blue-line tandem with Nick Leddy while sharing time with the more physically oriented Sheldon Brookbank. Rozsival was signed for his defensive skills more than for offense. But freed from the shackles of the Phoenix Coyotes' defensive-minded system, he has turned back the clock and looked like the more offensively gifted player he was with the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers. ``The way this team is playing, it's pretty much offensive-minded throughout the lineup,'' Rozsival said. ``I don't think anybody would be happy if I was just dumping the pucks off the glass on this team, so I'm trying to do my best. I knew I was able to play offense.'' ``His patience with the puck, the level that he's played with the puck, is one thing maybe I undervalued,'' Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said.

ImpactCoach Joel Quenneville says he expects Rosy to skate Wednesday, so we wouldn't worry too much about him missing an extended period of time. That said, he's of no real use for fantasy purposes so this is more of an FYI.
