NewsMark Eaton's presence in the lineup has helped stabilize Pittsburgh's defense.
ImpactThe Penguins are 15-1 with Eaton in the lineup and they have allowed just 1.81 goals per game when he's dressed. Without him, the team surrenders 2.83 goals per game. "The state our defense was in, we were looking for a veteran guy to come in and settle things down," said assistant coach Todd Reirden. "We didn't anticipate him being this effective on the ice. He's been everything we hoped for and more." Eaton has also helped improve the team's penalty kill when he's suited up. He appears to have earned his spot on the roster.

ImpactEaton will provide the Pittsburgh Penguins with extra depth and another veteran presence. However, we expected him to get next to no points in 2013.

ImpactHe has been invited to practice for the next few days in a tryout format after playing six games with the team's AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. "Hopefully I can end up here," Eaton said. "That's the long-term goal."
