Red Wings GM Ken Holland said Mantha will have a chance to earn a roster spot with Detroit during their 2014 training camp, but fantasy owners need to remember that the Red Wings usually like to give their prospects seasoning in the minors before allowing them to earn a permanent spot on their roster.

ImpactIt ends a remarkable season for Mantha, who scored a goal per game this season in the QMJHL. He also registered four points in Val d'Or's four games in the Memorial Cup tournament. Mantha has a very good chance of cracking the Red Wings' roster next season and if he does, he could be a terrific sleeper pick. Mantha could be a consistent goal scorer at the NHL level, especially if he gets a chance to play beside either Pavel Datsyuk or Henrik Zetterberg. Don't forget about Mantha on draft day.

ImpactThe Detroit Red Wings prospect has been a scoring machine in the QMJHL this season, with a league-leading 35 goals and 73 points in 32 games with the Val-d'Or Foreurs. Tampa Bay draft pick Jonathan Drouin collected three assists in the contest, while Derrick Pouliot (PIT) and Connor McDavid earned a pair of helpers each. 2014 top prospect Sam Reinhart notched a goal and an assist in the game. Impact"It's been incredible because a few years ago I was watching these guys play," Mantha said. "It's been real exciting. I've never lived this, so I'm living this moment (right now) and just playing the way I should and I'll keep playing that way until the end." He'll get to face Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday. Mantha accounted for three goals at the Traverse City prospects tournament, so he's already turned some heads and he can continue trending in the right direction with productive play during the exhibition schedule. He's expected to return to the junior ranks this campaign.
