Scott Laughton has been summoned by the Philadelphia Flyers.
Laughton has a goal and three points in six AHL games this season. He also had 56 points and 72 penalty minutes in 49 OHL contests in 2012-13. He's already participated in five matches with Philadelphia and is searching for his first NHL point.

As a rookie, he was nearing the limit that would "burn" a year off of his entry-level contract. For a team that's still pretty deep offensively like the Flyers, it makes sense to conserve those affordable years and allow Laughton to mature against lesser competition.

"He certainly didn't look out of place," Laviolette said. "I thought he did a nice job out there. System-wise, he seemed to understand. He's a smart kid ... a smart two-way player." Daniel Briere's wrist injury has opened a spot up front to start the year and Philadelphia can keep Laughton on their roster for five games before deciding to keep him or return him to junior.

There is a chance that first-round 2012 pick Scott Laughton could break camp with the Flyers.
He has been recalled from Oshawa of the OHL to take a shot at a roster spot. Although he is extremely talented the odds are not in Laughton's favour. There are seemingly two spots open on the Philly roster and one will likely be taken by Jody Shelley. In the 18-year-old's favour is that he can play wing or center. Watch him.

Laughton was the Flyers' 20th pick in the 2012 draft and he's showing why with his production: 13 goals and 32 points in 30 games. He might not be terribly far from making the leap to the pros.

The Generals have been forced to carry on without their top-two scorers, Boone Jenner and Tyler Biggs, thanks to the World Junior Championship so Laughton has had to elevate his game in their absences. The Philadelphia first rounder has 31 points in 29 matches this year.
