ImpactBrossoit hasn't allowed a goal in 126 minutes in the ECHL this season. At the same time, he has a 5.72 GAA and .824 save percentage in two AHL games. He does have the potential to be a good goaltender in the NHL, but he shouldn't be counted on to reach that level anytime soon.
Laurent Brossoit aims high in 2013-14 | 07/15/2013 9:40 AM
NewsLaurent Brossoit thinks he's in the race to be the Calgary Flames' top goaltender this season.
ImpactBrossoit's name was omitted when Flames GM Jay Feaster listed off the three players he thought could succeed Miikka Kiprusoff in 2013-14. "To be honest, I don't read too much of the media and what the GM says and all that," said Brossoit, "because I don't want to get discouraged if he leaves me out. Whether I'm good enough to play in the NHL or not, it's totally up to them - whether they want me to develop more or I'm ready. It's in their hands. I'm just going to play at my best." It's understandable why Feaster wouldn't include Brossoit as one of the goaltender's in the running. He probably doesn't want to put too much pressure on the 20-year-old prospect. Brossoit doesn't have any minor league experience and it's extremely rare for a goaltender to go from a Canadian junior league straight to the number one gig with an NHL squad.
