|Assets:||Plays with exceptional poise and is rather mistake-free in his approach to defense. Is quite mobile and capable of logging huge minutes. Also has offensive and shutdown upside.|
|Flaws:||Could stand to become a more physical defender, since he's not overly big (6-1, 195 pounds) for a National Hockey League defenseman. He should also add more bulk to his frame.|
|Career Potential:||Stabilizing big-minute defenseman with upside.|

NewsRyan Murray lifted weights on Monday for the first time since undergoing shoulder surgery in mid-January.
ImpactIt's a big step in the recovery for the second overall pick in the 2012 Draft. He is expected to be ready for the start of training camp in September where he will compete for a job on the blueline. Murray has the skill, character, and hockey sense that every team looks for in a defenseman but likely will not be a big point producer in the NHL. Nevertheless, he should be an outstanding blueliner for the Blue Jackets for many years to come.

ImpactMurray would have probably started the 2012-13 campaign with the Blue Jackets if it wasn't for the lockout and his subsequent shoulder injury.
