NewsAnders Nilsson allowed five goals on 26 shots Thursday as the Islanders dropped a 5-1 decision to St. Louis.
ImpactThe matchup was a very tough one for the inexperienced Nilsson, but he takes the loss nonetheless. His 0-1-2 mark is not something he'll be particularly proud of and neither are his GAA of 3.26 and his .883 save percentage.

ImpactNilson was making his first start of the season for New York and played pretty well. Still, he had a 3.57 goals-against average and .880 save percentage in the AHL before being recalled. In two games this year, he has a 2.47 goals-against average and .907 save percentage. Still, the Islanders are going nowhere fast with Kevin Poulin and Nilsson as their goaltenders. General manager Garth Snow desperately needs to make a move before the season is lost.

ImpactAfter a battery of tests were conducted, it was determined Nilsson suffered from a severe vitamin deficiency in addition to allergies to gluten and dairy. "It feels so much different now -- I can work hard on the ice or in the gym," he said. "It was a tough year, but I learned a lot. You live, you learn, right?" Now that the issues have been regulated, Nilsson has been practicing with the NHL club as the third netminder.
