Impact"I'm just here to prove people wrong. The Islanders, they didn't sign me," said Kichton, who was originally drafted by the Islanders in the fifth round in 2011 prior to being taken by the Jets last summer in the seventh round. "It bugs me every day. And it's not just the Islanders, it's teams that passed me. I was drafted again in the seventh round so a lot of teams passed on me for every round to then. But the Jets gave me an opportunity and I'm out here to prove everyone wrong." Kichton has registered six goals and 22 points from the back for he St. John's IceCaps of the AHL. He seems like a prospect to keep an eye on.

"But also defensively I thought he made some good reads and he moved the puck up the ice efficiently. Good first impression for me." Kichton signed with the Jets in late August after he was picked in the seventh round of the 2013 draft.

ImpactHe amassed 22 goals and 63 assists in 71 games with the Spokane Chiefs last season and was awarded with the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy as the WHL's top defenseman. He was originally drafted in the fifth round by the New York Islanders in 2011, but they couldn't sign him. Kichton was then chosen by Winnipeg in the seventh round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

ImpactAs a result, the Islanders have lost his rights and he is eliegible for the June draft. Kichton was the leading defenseman scorer in the Western Hockey League this past season with 85 points in 71 games and will surely be drafted higher than the 5th round this time around. The Isles also lost the rights to 7th round pick Mitchell Theoret.
