|Assets:||Has very good size (6-2, 205 pounds) and strength, and he likes to use it to his advantage on a regular basis. Hits with aplomb and can also move the puck. Plays an efficient game from the back end.|
|Flaws:||Struggles when he has to be used too much at the highest level, since he doesn't have high-end talent. Won't produce a lot of offense in the NHL, so he will always have to be a physical presence.|
|Career Potential:||Physical depth defenseman with a little upside.|

Borowiecki in the lineup Sunday for Sens | 11/03/2013 11:00 AM
NewsMark Borowiecki, who was recalled from the AHL Friday, will be in the lineup Sunday against the Stars.
ImpactThe Senators' defence has been terrible and coach Paul MacLean is looking for answers. Perhaps Borowiecki will provide some toughness in front of the net and will help neutralize some of the opponents' forwards. Borowiecki isn't much of an offensive threat but he can help in the penalty minute department. The 23-year-old rearguard amassed 157 PIMs in 53 games with Binghamton last season and 18 penalty minutes in a brief six-game stint with the Sens. Eric Gryba will sit out against the Caps to make room for Borowiecki.
Borowiecki felt like two different players | 08/02/2013 1:07 PM
NewsMark Borowiecki almost felt like two different players last season.
ImpactBorowiecki played just six games in the NHL before being sent down to the AHL, where he says he was much more comfortable and confident. "I think I have my defensive side down, but I think the big thing now is having more confidence with the puck," he said. " ... Obviously the game is different up here. It's a bit quicker and there's more structure, but you have to stick to your strengths and try to play your game." Borowiecki will play under a two-way contract this season and could find himself back in the AHL if he doesn't put together a strong camp.
Mark Borowiecki agrees to two-year deal | 07/11/2013 9:39 AM
NewsMark Borowiecki has agreed to a two-year deal with the Ottawa Senators.
ImpactBorowiecki's deal is two-way in 2013-14, but it becomes a one-way contract in 2014-15. "I think the right way to look at it is, regardless of what your contract is at you've still got to earn it," said Borowiecki. "Obviously I'm happy about (the one-way). It's just more of a push for me to make the next step. Hopefully, I'll have the odds in my favour." He doesn't have much offensive upside, but he does accumulate a ton of penalty minutes. He had 157 minutes in the sin bin in just 53 AHL games last season.
Borowiecki demoted to AHL Friday | 02/09/2013 1:06 PM
NewsThe Senators sent Mark Borowiecki to Binghamton of the AHL on Friday.
ImpactAlthough he was a decent source for PIMs while he played, Borowiecki needs more seasoning and with the return to health of Mike Lundin, the Sens can give it him. "We want him to continue to work on his play with the puck," said Sens' coach Paul MacLean.
Mark Borowiecki plays physical in home debut | 01/29/2013 9:09 AM
NewsOttawa-native Mark Borowiecki finally got the chance to make his home debut with the Senators in Sunday's 2-1 shootout loss to Pittsburgh.
ImpactHe logged 18:27 of ice time in his second appearance of the young season and led the contest with seven hits. Borowiecki also had two blocked shots and a plus-1 rating. He plays the game tough and if he gets more games like that under his belt then Ottawa would be ill-advised to keep him out of the lineup.
