|Flaws:||Doesn't have natural offensive ability, so his point-producing upside is quite limited. Also needs to avoid piling up a surplus of bad penalties that could hurt his team.|

Corrente still in the fight for roster spot | 09/24/2013 8:16 AM
NewsWith only 28 players left on the Carolina Hurricanes' roster, Matthew Corrente is still fighting for a spot.
Raleigh News & Observer
ImpactCorrente has done his best to make an impression. He dropped the gloves in consecutive preseason games on Friday and Saturday. He also took a puck to the nose during Monday's practice and managed to return before the end of the team's skate. "That's the kind of guys we want to bring in," Hurricanes coach Kirk Muller said. "He's played hard since Day 1. He's gotten two (preseason) games to prove something. He went out, he played hard, he fought. He got cut today in practice and comes right back out. He could have just called it a day, if he wanted. That's what I like." Corrente wouldn't do much offensively if he made the team, but he would probably spend an average of two-to-three minutes per game in the sin bin.
