Scouting Report

Assets:	Has good size and sound puck skills. A fleet skater, he has the wheels needed to rush back into the play. Is at his best when he plays it simple, moving the puck out of danger.
Flaws:	Doesn't make enough of a physical impact, despite a big (6-3, 205 pounds) frame. Is somewhat limited in terms of his offensive upside, which is also a bit of a mystery.
Career Potential:	Steady, yet inconsistent depth defenseman.

According to the St. Petersburg Times, Mikkelson appeared to hit the back of his head and took several minutes to get up after the incident. He skated off slowly under his own power, but the team is listing him as day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Mikkelson has dressed in just one game this season.
