Scouting Report

Assets:	Has tremendous size and the aggressive nature scouts love from the blue-line position. Can both intimidate and shut down opposing forwards.
Flaws:	Doesn't have a lot of offensive upside. Also needs to play with greater consistency and make better decisions with the puck on his blade.
Career Potential:	Physical depth defenseman.

The San Jose Sharks have recalled Matt Pelech from the minors.

The tough wingers has played only one game for the Sharks this season and managed to get into a fight with Jared Boll of the Blue Jackets. He was selected in the first round, 26th overall in 2005 by Calgary as a defenseman but has played up front this season. He has played in only six NHL games in his career.

Pelech is capable of serving as both a defenseman and a forward and the Sharks intend to use him as the latter on Monday. Either way, Pelech doesn't do much offensively, but he does spend a ton of time in the sin bin. He has 177 penalty minutes in just 34 AHL games this season.
