NewsBenoit Pouliot returned to the lineup Saturday against the Capitals after sitting out the previous two contests as a healthy scratch.
ImpactPouliot will boost the Lightning's depth, but he doesn't have a ton of fantasy value. "At first I didn't really get it, and it's tough when a coach tells you that you are not going to play for a couple of games,'' he said. "I was a little confused, but after that you realize it's part of the game and part of the business and that's what I did. It (stinks) sitting out and at first I was mad, not at the coach or anybody like that, just a matter of not playing is terrible. It's happened to me in the past and I don't like it at all and it's something you don't like to go through.'' Pouliot has 18 points and a plus-nine rating in 28 games this season.

ImpactPouliot has been "close" to returning for at least a week. He's been sidelined since suffering a shoulder injury March 2 against the Bruins. While Pouliot will boost the Lightning's depth, he doesn't have a ton of fantasy value.

ImpactThe move isn't a surprise after coach Guy Boucher said Monday that Pouliot would not play at all this week. Pouliot is eligible to be activated Saturday at the earliest, but it's no guarantee he will be. There's still no real timeline for his return. We'll update you as soon as we know more.

ImpactA fourth-overall pick of the Wild in 2005, Pouliot has been a massive disappointment. He was traded to Montreal early in the 2009-10 season, then cut after a year and a half and signed with Boton, and the Lightning signed him to a one-year deal this offseason. Thus far, he has five goals and 10 points in 14 games, by far his best rate of production in the NHL. "I've had him in the American League and I thought there was something there and I seen him with the Canadians and I thought there was something there,'' said Tampa Bay head coach Guy Boucher, who was part of the Montreal organization in 2009-10. "And right now it's starting to pay off. I just hope it continues because he has a lot more to offer and I know it.''
