NewsPetteri Nokelainen signed a one-year contract signed a one-year contract with Brynas IF of the Swedish Hockey League, according to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta.

ImpactNokelainen didn't end up playing in the NHL last season due to a back injury. The Finnish-born winger was waived in March. Prior to that, he had two goals and four points in 17 AHL games with the Hamilton Bulldogs.

NewsPetteri Nokelainen is apparently ready to return from a back injury, so the Canadiens have placed him on waivers.

ImpactHe'll get to work is way back into game shape in the minors if he clears. However, he may not have a spot with Montreal once he's gotten some games under his belt.

NewsPetteri Nokelainen (back) participated in Tuesday's practice and took part in all the drills.
ImpactHe hasn't played yet this season because of a lingering back issue, but this session may suggest that he is close to being available. This is just an FYI though, as Nokelainen won't have any fantasy value once he was able to return to the lineup.

NewsPetteri Nokelainen practiced with his Montreal teammates for the first time this season on Friday.
ImpactThe 27-year-old checking forward had been out of action since the beginning of the campaign with a lingering back issue. Nokelainen has been cleared for contact but there is no timetable yet for his return.
