Assets:	Possesses a hard, accurate shot from the point, which can be effective on the power play. Has good size, so he can play a physical brand of hockey.
Flaws:	Must improve his decision-making and defensive-zone coverage in order to become a valuable blueliner. Is an average skater for a defenseman. Needs more game-to-game consistency.

Barker was waived earlier today and it's likely his roster spot will be taken by Derek Roy, who the Canucks reportedly acquired in a trade with the Stars. Barker has no fantasy value as a third-pairing defenseman.

Cam Barker has reportedly signed a one-year/$700,000 deal with the Vancouver Canucks.

Impact

The deal is of course prorated given that this will be a shortened season. Barker had three goals and eight points in 23 contests with the AHL Texas Stars during the lockout. He should serve as a depth or third-pairing defenseman with the Canucks.
