Scouting Report

Assets:	Has good size and solid offensive acumen. Is comfortable enough on the power play, thanks to a very good point shot. Is also steady and safe in the defensive zone. Plays a mature game, overall.
Flaws:	Is inconsistent in all areas of the game, including the physical department, so he could stand to step it up in that area to become a better NHLer. Doesn't produce enough points at the highest level.
Career Potential:	Mobile depth defenseman.

Alexander Sulzer is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing successful surgery on the ACL in his right knee.

He was injured Feb. 23 against the Islanders and doctors had to wait for the swelling to go down before they could operate. Sulzer appeared in 17 games for the Sabres this season, while recording three goals, four points and a plus-3 rating.

Impact

Sulzer was acquired last year as part of the trade deadline move that saw Cody Hodgson join the Sabres in exchange for Zack Kassian and Marc-Andre Gragnani. He has four points in 17 games this season.

Alexander Sulzer was a healthy scratch for the second time this season Tuesday night.

He leads the team's defense corps with three goals, which oddly enough is more than all but four of Buffalo's forwards. Sulzer has also added an assist and a plus-4 rating in 12 appearances this season for the Sabres. Coach Lindy Ruff said the decision to sit Sulzer was made "based on what we're looking at in the game" and "some of it is based on mobility of our defense and how they get involved."
