ImpactCarter has shifted to center because Mike Richards has been sidelined with what's believed to be a concussion. Carter's new line has found some success offensively. "Obviously with Mike going out, it's a huge loss to our team," Carter said. "He's a guy that plays in all situations. You know, I think the first game in Chicago, we didn't really have too much time to think about anything. Maybe that was a good thing with Tyler coming in. Chicago's not an easy place to play. With him coming in there, he played great. Penns has been good. Seems like we're kind of keeping things simple. When you do that, get pucks deep, work their D low, which is something we've been trying to do, good things happen."

NewsJeff Carter required 20 stitches and suffered some cracked and chipped teeth after he was hit in the face by Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith's stick in Game 3 Tuesday night.
ImpactKeith may face a suspension for the incident following his hearing on Wednesday. He appears to be fine though. Carter has a goal and two assists in his past two games against Chicago and he has 11 points in 16 playoff contests.

ImpactSince loss of center Jarret Stoll (concussion), Carter has been used by the Kings as a No. 1 penalty killer and his contributions in that role have been significant during his team's Western playoff series against the Sharks. The Kings lead the series 3-2 and could progress to the Western final with a win in San Jose tonight. San Jose has not scored in 10 power-play attempts in three games at Los Angeles, and has only one power-play goal in five road games in the playoffs. Stoll, one of the Kings' top penalty killers, has been skating but is not close to coming back. Kings coach Darryl Sutter acknowledged Saturday that Stoll had suffered a concussion and the team was following a mandated protocol in terms of his recovery.
